I've been on depo for a couple yrs now. I'm now 21 and and trying to have a baby, my last shot was due jan. 2013.. I'm currently having a normal menstrual cycle, so is it a good chance that I could get pregnant now?

Been on Depo for 26 years and never had a problem. When I wanted my second child, I left it and it took 9 months to fall pregnant. Depo also helps with milk production after the baby is born. I swear by depo and I know I can safely leave it for a few months now and then (to give my body a break) without falling pregnant but at 48 I can still fall pregnant without a problem. The biggest problem with Depo is that too many woman don't understand how their bodies work!! What many woman also don't know is that there are 2 different injections - the one you get every 3 months and then you get a much milder one which you get every 2 months and which they prefer giving to woman who haven't had children yet.

i was 16 when i had an abortion in 2009 , i took the depo shot right after my abortion , and i thought the depo shot had made me infertile. it took me 3 1/2 years to get pregnant, i was nausea and feeling sick and i couldnt eat for days , and i had missed my period by a week so i went to the doctor on feburary 15, 2013 and i just found out 2 days ago that i am 6weeks pregnant. the depo shot does not make you infertile. u just have to let your body recover... i am happy that i took the depo shot :)

At 28, had been on depo since 20 after the first born. Took 6 months to get a period and 2 months later we were pregnant. Patience and enjoy the time instead of forcing the issue to get pregnant. When we finally relaxed and started enjoying each other, it happened!

Hi the one I took was monthly and it was helpful I'm certainly aware of that and had my regular cycles and I've also tried the 3 months for long as long as nearly 10yrs and when I stopped in a week I got pregnant but definitely it does vary and I always play safe then to be sorry I accept the advise by nurses even though I may feel or can conceive that will not make me over confident to say yes to it, as I belief the best person is one yourself two your Doctor! : )

Yes but there factors that may also triggers other effects that may concern individual.

1. Sleepiness
2. Nausea at times
3. Bloating on the stomach
4. Gain in weight
5. Mood swings
6. Decrease in fertility for some after when you decide to have one

These may vary for some however, it works on not conceiving for the time frame you expect. Age is a matter the older you are the different symptoms and effects be.

Good lucks!

I was on the depo provera for 5 years or more. I wanted to get pregnant after I stopped but it took about 2 years and it wasnt when I wanted too. I had to be less stressed and when I wasn't thinking about it. I got pregnant with a gorgeous lovable healthy son. It all depends in your fertility and partner, less stressed body and love.

Was on the Depo shot in 1999 for about a year.. stopped taking it and was pregnant with my first child within 4-5 months. Started the shot again in November 2010, and was using the shot until Feb 2012 when we decided to try and get pregnant. It took about 7 months.. became pregnant in Sept 2012, due this June with my fourth child. Good luck, it will happen!!

Yes. We did finally. I was taking the depo shot for a few years. My periods quit. I quit when they took it off the market. Then I did the Lunell shot. My periods have never returned to normal. I conceived two of my kids without having my periods. I was off the depo shot for about 2 years when I finally conceived.

I had taken depo for just over 2 years and got pregnant then miscarried early on.  I stopped taking it.  My husband and I were having trouble getting pregnant and my hormones were very off.  I had started menopause at 24, I had the hormone levels of a 46 year old woman.  My Dr. told me there is no scientific proof that it was the depo shot but it was n't the 1st time he had seen this in woman who were on depo.  But now we have 4 beautiful children.

Thanks so much for your positive feedack. I had read alot of feedback in some forums that women were not getting pregnant. Its great to hear that so many have. I will stop stressing so much and continue to enjoy my time with my son (3) until number 2 comes along. Take Care

I had 3-4 shots and i had to come off it to go back on the pill. I was bleeding most of the time on in and i started to have bad pains with it. I also know someone who was on it and had 4 shots and fell pregnant cos she didnt keep on time with her shots

I only had 4 shots and it took me 21 months after the last shot to get pregnant. As soon as I gave up hope for a second child it happened.

After that my body went back to normal and it took just 1 month to get our 3rd. (1st one was just as easy, after 1 month off the pill) I guess for some people (like me) it takes 18-24 months to get depo provera out of your system but once it goes you get back to normal. I heard similar story from a coworker, too.

I was on DepoProvera for three years before stopping the injections. It took me 18 months to conceive. I was 30 at the time, but anxious to start a family and was harassing my ob/gyn every month - even asking about fertility treatments. Since then I have had two children and am pregnant with another. Hang in there, things will be fine!

I was on Depo for about 4 years and went off of it in February of 2007, had one period in July 2007 and then was pregnant the end of November 2007.  I think the more you stress over it the harder it is to get pregnant.

Nicole,
I took Depro Provera shots since I was well since I was in High School, and then when I got pregnant it was exactly 1 year after the shot wore off! So what I am saying is it took my body 1 year to get out of my system b4 I could get pregnant, but it could also happen anytime, just be patient...there is always a reason why it does or doesnt work when you want it too!!!! Good luck
