My daughters name is Aysia Lynn (pronounced like the continent). It is original but yet not too far out in left field. She is 9 and loves it because no one else in her school has her name yet everyone knows who she is because of her name.

How about Nora, Nova, Lovie, or Scarlet? Those are very classic that you don't hear very often.

I just had a little boy (Holden Alexander), and had 3 times as many girl names picked out than boy names! Some of my faves were:

Celeste

Cadence

Shiloh

Ansley

Normandy

Leighton

Bridgette

Jacqueline

Winter (or Wynter)

Gwynneth

Brynn

Harlow

Salem (my name)

Hope this helped!

My husband didn't like it, but I love the name Tabitha Rose :)

As a special ed teacher, I would recommend against Mackenzie and Madelyn at this time. Also Kayleena/Kaylee/Kylee and other variations of this name. All of the students I have encountered with these names recently have had learning difficulties. Its weird how names seem to cluster sometimes...

My daughter's name is Phoenix... how's that for unusual! My husband chose it after watching "Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix." It's a name you almost never hear, (especially for a girl) Her middle name is Maree so if she doesn't like being called Phoenix when she's an old lady, she can switch to her classical middle name.

I'm pregnant now and plan on naming the baby, (if it's a girl) Aaliyah. It means sublime and highly exalted... good luck and congrats!

i tend to choose names based on their meanings, my first daughters name is Amber which means jewel, because to us she is a precious little gem! her middle names are lily, which is the meaning of my mum susans' name, and grace which is just so classic and beautiful. my second daughter is Alyssa which means rational one, and she is such a calm baby!!! her middle names are eva and Belle which means beautiful. if i ever was blessed with another daughter i love the name Aimee which means Beloved, and Amira which means Princess because i believe every little girl is a Princess. other names i love are Olivia, and Hannah which means peace. all are easy for people to pronounce and will be easy for children to spell when going to school-some of the weird names u see these days! can be daunting! lots of choices for you, good luck!!!!

Hey I named my little girl Elliana, which someone else named theirs on here. You think you pick something original and as soon as you do you hear it more often. I chose Elliana because it was different but we usuall call her Elli. I like Juliana, arabella(love this one but daddy said it sound too much like a princess name. I said of course that is what she will be:) but we agreed on elliana), gabrella, madeline(long i)

There's a book available at Borders or Barnes N Noble based on the US and Canadian census. It's called something like 10,000 baby names? It's a thick book but it's really great because it's well organized and tells you how rare a name is. Plus, there are numerous websites. Just type in "Baby Names." You can search by culture "African Baby Names" or by the letter you want it to start with, too.

I have had friends who have waited 3 days AFTER baby was born to name them, they had names that they liked but wanted to see what baby looked liked first before choosing one, I also have friends who had named their baby in hospital but changed it when they got home, nothings certain until you file that birth certificate so don't feel that you have to rush. You'll know the name when you hear it. good luck

It just this simple Amanda. Just name her Nique' or Nikki, or go buy a baby book with names in it for girls that you and your husband would like together.

I am a school teacher and find picking a unique name is difficult. I always thought the name Christian was pretty for a girl.

I also like the name Dayleigh~sounds like Bayleigh or Bailey. I guess it could be spelled Daylee.

Wrenn is also different.

Whitley, is unique.

How about Twyne, or Twine.

Vann?

Tosln?

Toler?

Ivey?

Clair or Clare?

Just for kicks you might look through the phone book for names.

Have you tried the on-line name your baby sites? They're are lots of names there.

Good Luck!!!
