There are three main groups of infant formulas.
Milk based.
Soy based.
Hypoallergenic.
If you've tried milk and soy based, you will need to go to hypoallergenic. It's quite a bit more expensive and before switching you should likely check into other possible causes of her discomfort or symptoms, such as reflux.

Also, I never said goat's milk isn't easily digested; I specifically stated it is not intended to be the sole component of an infant diet. Huge difference.

Well, infant formulas are made from cow's milk.. maybe that's what she's getting at. S26 is an infant formula. I don't know of any infant formulas that are made from goat's milk. Any infant formula is going to be better for your baby than goat's milk. Though I have heard of babies surviving on goat's milk when no other options are available.

I would check with your baby's doctor.

You have to be in another country in the US you would NEVER be told to put your infant on cow's milk. There are two options breastfeed or Infant formula. I have no idea what the items are that you are listing just as you don't know what I am referring too.

Kathryn - 8wk old babies aren't supposed to be on cows milk, which is probably why she isn't digesting it!
Research is very confusing, but some that I have read says that goats is far better and more easily digested that cows which is contray to what Amy says. I also got same info from my GP who also does natural health and nutrition medicine.
Most would suggest some form of formula if you aren't b'feeding. Avoid any soya tho. It might take a while before you find one that suits your baby. You can always try the small cartons first.
I would suggest contacting your health visitor or paediatrician to discuss your babies needs at this age.

What age? Goat's milk does not have the full panel of vitamins formula does, as it's not intended to be the sole ingredient in the child's diet. So if the child is at least 12 months old, it's a fully acceptable alternative to cow's milk, but prior to that your child still needs formula. It can be bought at Walmart, comes in a quart container (red), and costs 4x as much as cow's milk. It has nearly as much protein as cow's milk (6g per cup vs 8g per cup) but not so much that it actually leaches calcium from the bones like cow's milk does, even with additional calcium added to the milk itself. Other good alternatives are Rice milk (what we use) but it is quite low in protein, which is why we use it, Almond milk, Coconut milk, Soy milk (contains estrogens though so beware and is often an allergen to some kids). All of these cost 2x as much as cow's milk, and soy milk has 6g of protein per cup as well although the others are quite low at 1g per cup on average.
