I went to the dentist when breastfeeding a young child. While the dentist was doing a filling - I was actually bfing my child because he/she (I can't remember which one it was!!!) started wailing.

just tell your dentist that you're breastfeeding. the xrays shouldn't be a problem(i had them done while I was breastfeeding). I had 2 cavaties filled without anesthetic(they weren't that deep) but even if you need it, your dentist should be able to explain why it won't affect your milk(I don't remember what mine said).

Make sure the baby is in a different room when you have the x-rays. Otherwise there's nothing to worry about.

I had a root canal when DD was a couple of months old, BTW. It's really not a big deal -- there are very few drugs that are not compatible with breastfeeding, and they're things like radioactive iodine (for thyroid tests) and super-potent psychotropic drugs.

I did that while breastfeeding, no worries. I believe that if there was an issue your dentist would say something to you. Just ask.
