There are 5 of us, 3 active teenage boys & my husband & I, so we spend around $1500 per month & we only eat out about 4 times a month, I try hard to cook everything, only because I enjoy it, & because my boys eat like there is no tommorrow lol!!

We 250 a month here- @ adults and 1 3 1/2 year old and a 9 month old- Though we get state funded wic (coupon/vouchers for free formula and eggs milk and cheese items) also we money is REALLY tight there is a food pantry at my church that we go to.

I saw that Oprah too! One mom spent less than 5 dollars on a weeks order...amazing.
I usually just go directly to the products website, they usually have offers for Canadian citizens. I use a coupon almost everytime I buy Molly's formula (Enfamil). I also usually shop at the Real Canadian Supertore which I find has the most deals and coupons for stuff that we need.

Quoting Katie:

I live in Canada, and you can get lots of coupons. You just have to look/ask for them. For myself, my hubby, and our almost 8 month baby...including diapers....we spend at least $250 every two weeks. Molly is formula fed @ $60 a week.
So $500-$600 a month....

I have been to save.ca but it is usally for products we dont use.  where do you get your coupons? seems like canada is more expensive than the states. I know a lot of stores down there let customers double and tripple there coupons. I always wonder how thoes people on ohprah can get away with spening like 50 a week

It is just me my partner and my nine month old daughter. We probably spend about $300.00 a month on groceries not including my daughter's formula which is about $200.00 a month.

I make a list before going to the grocery store that way I don't have to go back for 2 weeks and I am less likely to buy other things that I don't need. I cook a lot and hardly ever go out to eat. I cook enough for my fiance to take some for work the next day.

Buying in bulk is also great it helps you save money in the long run.

If you don't get many coupons one thing you can try (not sure if they do it in Canada) is buying the "managers special." These are simply foods that are close to their "sell by" date and are usually half off due to the store losing money if they aren't sold. These foods are still good in the refrigerator for 3-5 days after purchase and stay fresh just as long in the freezer as any other food would. Also, if you buy in bulk and cook for more than one day at a time you can save yourself some money!

How big is your family? We have a family of five and we use to spend at least $200 on groceries, and maybe an additional $150 on eating out. I've learned to start cutting back a little by cooking more and trying to take leftovers for lunch. I was getting to be too much for us. We still eat out some since we are out of the house a lot, but I try to make snack packs for the kids to eat when I pick them up instead of buying fast food.

I'd say we probably spend around $50-60 a week at our house for me, DH, & LO. Sometimes less, sometimes a bit more (especially if I have to buy pantry staples or meats at Sam's Club). I shop what's on sale and generally have a bunch of coupons as well. It used to be more when we were buying formula...but now I'd estimate we're at about $200 a month.
