What are your view points on the shot? Are you going to give it to your kids?

Our family won't get any flu shot. Me and my friends found these sites helpful:

***www.naturalnews.com is a great info. site!

Thanks! I actually like that website because it has scientific, peer-reviewed literature related to vaccines and immunization. I work in research and find things like that to carry a little more weight than some of the other info you can find on the internet.

I agree it is to new. I do not want my kids to be their guinea pigs. I think if you take the normal precautions, wash hands, vitamin C, stay away from other sick kids as much as possible, fresh air, stay away from sweets, eat healthy and relie on God, that it will be enough.
I'm sorry, but is this really sound advice? What if you have no choice but for your children to come into contact with other children via school or daycare? And I'm sorry, but if you're going to make a decision make it an informed decision. Your children are not guniea pigs. This vaccine is being manufactured just like seasonal flu vaccine, so the risks are known and proven. My daugher gets seasonal flu vaccine and will be getting the H1N1 vaccine...vaccines save lives, people.
I am not sure what you want for sound advice, I am not a Dr. just a mom saying what works for me. I wanted to add that there is a reason it said "as much as possible" . I have never got the regular flu shot even though I worked in a "high risk" job, I came out fine. I understand that is not the case for everyone. which is why you should evalute your family. I read some where about some one going on about moms who did not get their kids vaccinated period and how they were putting vaccinated kids at risk. (makes no sense to me) IF that is true then is does not matter if you get the vaccine or not because then if you are around someone that has it you still put yourself or your kids at risk. I don't know just my thoughts. Talk to peds Dr. and your own mom. If there a history of reaction to flu shots in your family then you might want to think twice.
Not sure I follow your logic here...Herd Immunity is what protects people. It does, in fact, make a difference if your child is vaccinated. No vaccination is 100% effective in everyone, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be given. Here's a link to more info about it.

Its the same vaccine as the seasonal flu shot, just has h1n1 strain in it. seasonal flu shot changes every year based on what strain is prevalent that year. it is not a new vaccine, risks and side effects are the same as seasonal. my son and I both got one on saturday. my ob just had a patient 23 weeks along lose her babt because of swine flu. I wasnt taking any chances with mine. also the vaccine doesnt have mercury in it someone got info from a tainted site.

I am not giving it to my boys unless the schools tell us we have too. The shot is to new and I am more worried about the regular Flu A and B. More people are dying of those. All the doctors here say that they have blown it out to be really something to freak about. When its not such a big deal. But only you can make that choice for your kids.

I am reading about & hearing ppl. talk about the negative effects of the vaccine.
How could they come up with a vaccine in such a short period?
The swine flu only came about in April. Many doctors are against it
& are discouraging family & friends from taking it.
The makers of the vaccine are NOT taking it.Thats enough for me!!!.
Wash hands frequently, eat well, stay healthy & say NO to the so called H1N1 shot.
(It contain Mercury & other deadly chemicals.Do the research & you'll think twice before saying yes to the shot.)

i honestly go to a great peds doc. and she says shes lookin it over to see if she recommends it for my kids. mine have both asthma and allergies so it might be a better to have it.. BUt the other issue is daycare or school!! mine dont go.. so besides the doc office and the grocery store..or family! less chances for my kids to get it!. it's all on ur thoughts. personally my kids dont get flu shots!

Absolutly not. I am very against giving the shot to my son. The CDC has not reccommended the shot and they do not know the effectiveness or saftey of the shot yet. Plus I do not believe in putting the virus into his body. Of course I do not want him to get sick by any means, however, I believe there are other preventitive measures that can be taken. I have tlaked to my son about making sure he covers his outh when he coughs or sneezes and to go wash his hands immediatley after. I also carry hand sanitizer and hand wipes with me in my purse at all times.

to clear up a few points....many perfectly healthy kids have already died from H1N1, they did do human testing & the side effects were minimal & similar to the regular flu vaccine (although we obviously cant know if there are any long term side effects at this time) & someone said the regular flu kills more people & that is simply not true. the swine flu hits kids & people with weak immune systems/prior medical conditions hardest. the regular flu season has not yet began but already 2x the number of kids have died from the swine flu than normally die from the regular flu all season long. maybe this will taper off but maybe not. i would not worry much about actually dying if you are a healthy adult & take common sense precautions like washing your hands, but in the last 2 weeks the # of child deaths have greatly increased. i guess their undeveloped immune system is just not strong enough to handle it. the cases are worse in the south & major cities but it has worked its way up through the country & is widespread in all but 8 states now. i know its scary to give your child any vaccines but PLEASE do your research thoroughly before making a decision for your child, a lot of people are not truely educating themselves before deciding they are not getting the vaccine & i think that this is an decision that deserves your serious consideration. honestly im scared to give my son any shots & i always research everything before he gets it. i know its a personal decision that every parent has to make for themselves i'm just hoping that we all make the right choice for our kids.

According to my husbands grand-mother, this is not a new flu or a new vaccine. She said she received a swine flu vaccination back in the late 60's early 70's. However, I do not know if the vaccine is the same now as then (likely not). I find it very confusing because some doctors are pushing it & others aren't really sure. I haven't decided if any of us will be getting it or not.

I felt the same way as the other women that have posted on here. However, my case is a little different. my daughter is in remission for cancer, and has regular testing still. In order to get these tests done, she can't be sick. She just got her flu shot for the first time, and I was wary about the H1N1 because its so new. So, I spoke to her pediatrician. The way it was explained to me, is that it has the exact same ingredients as the regular flu shot. EXCEPT that it has the H1N1 strain in the vaccine, rather than the regular flu strain. So basically, that is how they know what kind of effects it's going to have. It's the same thing, just with the different flu strain. I read one of the other posts on here where a women said she was just going to get her kids the regular flu shot and that would protect them ok. Unfortunately, it won't. I thought the same thing. But it will not protect your children from swine flu. Only the H1N1 vaccine can protect you child from swine flu, because the vaccine has H1N1 in it. Just like all other "live vaccines", you are injected with a small amount of whatever your getting vaccinated against(easiest way to explain it). Thats why your child might get a little cold after getting the flu shot, or even chicken pox. I plan on getting it for my daughter, now that I understand it better. If you have concerns, talk to your doctor or pediatrician. Don't just go off the news and what other people say. Definitely inform yourself.

Our doctor is recommending it for my kids, especially since my children have had RSV in the past, which makes them more susceptible to the lung damage caused by this virus. There have also been two children in my son's class who have been in the hospital due to H1N1 so I'm not taking any chances. The H1N1 vaccine is produced just like the seasonal flu vaccine, only with the H1N1 strain instead of the seasonal strain, so I feel safe giving it to my kids.

My daughter came home with a paper for permission to have the shot given to her at school and I must say I am very confused about this too. She gets a flu shot every year because she has asthma but does she really need this one too?

I am not giving it to my kids. My daughter has had an Asthma issue in the past and it was recommended that the nasal one is not recommended. However the shot is safer for her. My point is that she is nine and has not had one as of yet we just continue with our safe practices on germ fighting and keeping her healthy with good nutrition and vitamin C. A cold is a cold.

i'm glad to see this is on other moms minds! i think i am going to give my son the shot as soon as he is eligible (he is only 5 months old now) but i would prefer if my husband & i could go ahead & get it now so we wont bring germs home to him & also so i know first hand the side effects. its a tricky situation because it is so new that the long term side effects are not known yet but considering that the swine flu is already widespread in 42 states & its not even time for the flu season yet i think the pros of getting vaccinated greatly outweigh the cons.
fyi-
2 times the number of kids have died as of last week than normally die from the regular flu & the regular flu season hasnt even started yet!

Nope. Too new. More people BY FAR get the regular flu and die from it every year anyway. Just get the regular flu shot for you and your kids and you will be fine.

I won't give the shot to my son. I am not a fan of the disease, and I would hate for him to be sick, but all that I've read about vaccines make me very wary. The best research I've found can be read at www.generationrescue.org. They are an autism based group. They are not anti-vaccination, but caution parents about the true risks and statistics. They also provide information for families who have had children affected by too much exposure to shots and viruses. I would do anything to protect my child, but that being said, it does not hurt to be an informed consumer.
