This is called Implantation. It's basically when the new embryo embeds itself in the wall of the uterus.
"During the process of implantation, cells on the surface of the blastocyst make contact with the endometrial lining and begin to chemically "open up" a space within the lining where the fertilized egg may fasten. As a fold or region in the endometrium is produced, the blastocyst (now embryo) nestles itself within the uterine lining. This event may cause some tell-tale signs - and potentially the very first symptom of pregnancy, implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding is simply defined as light spotting that may appear during the implantation process. The color of the blood will not be red, as with your period, but typically a pinkish or brownish shade. Not all women will experience this spotting - in fact, most do not - so if you do not observe implantation bleeding, this does not at all delimit the possibility of pregnancy. So now we have an embryo and, ta-da, pregnancy has just been achieved!"

Yes. I spotted for a day or two, thought my period was starting but was really light. Then when it stopped, I waited a few days, then got the first positive pregnancy test about a week after the first spotting. Then, I started spotting again about a week later, which kept up off and on for about three weeks. It was really scary, I had to have two ultrasounds in that time because the doctor was worried about possible miscarriage. I finally stopped spotting around 7 1/2 weeks, and am now 14 weeks and baby is fine.

i've had none for 9 months. Wish i was pregnant. Tried all sorts of pills not keen on coil as you can still get pregnant. Had horrendous pregnancies so wouldn't survive another x

How about this one... I actually had my period a week later than I was supposed to but it was not a normal period because it was really light and only lasted for 2 days. Month later no period so go to the doc and find out that yes I am pregnant and they told me 6 weeks. When I went in for the 12 week checkup I was feeling movement so they did ultrasound and found out I was a week further along then expected. Turns out that weird period threw the docs off by a week.

no. I stopped my birth control in early Sept. Had some spotting for like 2 weeks then I got pregnant in November. My mother had spotting for the first couple months while she was pregnant with me though....So she didn't even know she was pregnant until she was already 3 months along!

Yes! I spotted on the day I was supposed to start. Then it went away. I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. Took a test the following month and I was pregnant.
