Do you think you might be pregnant? How late are you? My daughter was also born in April 11 2010. I had my sx 3 months after she was born. So I guess I was wrong on the amount of time since I had it done. It has been more like 13 months for me. I was pretty off. LOL.

I'm not sure about that one Marina. I have read that the chance goes up SLIGHTLY the longer it is, but I'm not sure why.

Also, my OB told me that having it done within 6 months of pregnancy (so that includes during a c-section) will increase the chances of pregnancy to 1 in 200, because the pregnancy hormones are more likely to *heal* the tubes (because that's what pregnancy hormones do - heal). We discussed it as an option should I need a c-section when I had my youngest, and he strongly recommended against it.

I got my tubes tied 20 years ago, never even had a scare of getting knocked up. lol I am 41 now was 21 when I got it done.. not even 6weeks after my son was born, honestly would be nice to think I could have just one more but guess it wasn't in the cards for me:-(

I had one done 6 years ago after the birth of my twins. now that I'm divorced. I met someone who doesn't have any kids we have a great relationship, I'm thinking of having another child. What's the chance of me getting preg... again

Hmmmm.....Well that sucks. My tubes were tied, not cut. I guess when you have it done right away, they will actually cut them. A band was put around mine. I am hoping that the risks are less. I got tied for a reason.

The chances go up the longer it's been since your tubal because in some cases your body heals itself and the longer it's been since you had the tubal, the more there is a chance of that. Sorry if I wasn't super clear about why there is a risk.

Huh. I remember hearing some of that, but I thought the longer you had it the more likely everything healed so you couldn't. Damn. If I get preggo....fuck. I refuse to worry though. I will NOT be a tubal ligation statistic! (maybe I should have my husband get a vasectomy just in case, LOL)

Yes, but how soon after the procedures done? I thought the longer out your were, the safer you were.

About 1 in 300 people do get pregnant after a tubal ligation.

If you suspect you may be pregnant, you need to take a test and get a check up. The incidence of ectopic pregnancy increase if you have had a tubal ligation. Go and get it checked out ASAP.

Tara, I am confused. Are you saying the longer you have the tubal the MORE chances you have of becoming pregnant? That doesn't sound right to me.

I know people who have gotten pregnant after a tubal. So far, so good with mine though. I guess the odds go up for a pregnancy the longer it is since you had the tubal done (highest odds at about 10 years after...)

Anyway, if you had a test come up as positive I would go see your doc to be checked out. If you have had a tubal and have a positive test there is a possibility that you have an ectopic pregnancy and that has to be found out immediately as it can be very dangerous to you.

I had a tubal ligation about 8 months ago. No preggos here. It was a success. How recently have you had yours done?
