My first son is about to turn 14 in Dec. He was circumsied by the Military and it was wrapped in gauze and was removed once we were home (per Dr). His penis is perfect. Cudos Portsmouth Naval Hospital. My 2nd son is 8 months old. He was circumsied at birth by civilian doctors. He was not wrapped in gauze. We were told to put ointment on and to not let the skin adhere to the head. I have done this until he was completly healed. His penis now looks half circumsized. I still have to pull skin back to clean his head because of debris in between skin and head. My ex-husband was not circumsized and he told me that you do have to pull the skin back and clean or you would have problems. I would take him back to get it "fixed" BUT I don't want to cause additional problems or PAIN to my son. I would love to sue the Doctor because I paid for a half done circumcision and now my son gets to be laughed at in the locker room because he does not look circumsized (Per my ex-husband's childhood memories). Also to you moms who are scared to pull back the skin. You better do it now while they are small so when they get older they dont have to have surgery to un-attach it.

I ask my babys dr. If I should pull it back he said yes and pulled it back my 9 month baby cried a lil and he bleed now I don't what to do if to put something .idk

Our son's skin was really tight- the peehole was a pinhole.. we did the cream thing for 2 years, and he ended up having to get circumcised this past summer at age 5. Did you get the cream from the doctor's yet? It does work, but you have to do it at least twice a day (we weren't consistent enough).. If you do end up getting him circumcised, let me know.. I have some advice for his recovery that I wished I had known pre-procedure.. good luck!

Is your little boy circumcised and it's the remaining foreskin that has to be pulled back? Or was you boy left intact and the doctor is telling you to retract the foreskin completely?

If he has been circumcised, then it means he is having adhesions - which is where the remaining foreskin re-adheres to the glans (the head of the penis). It is horrible when it has to be pulled back. The best thing to do is to pull it back and apply vasoline at each diaper change. The vasoline will help prevent the foreskin from re-adhering to the head. If there is not a lot of extra foreskin, you could just leave it and the adhesions will likely release on their own as he grows and starts playing with his penis on his own in the bathtub. I caution you against removing more foreskin because he could end up with too much foreskin removed and as he grows into his penis and his foreskin, the skin will be too tight and will cause problems such as a curved penis or premature ejaculation (the penis is pulled into the body by the tight skin, causing pressure on the prostate, causing the premature ejaculation - not fun for his future mate).

If your little one is not circumcised (intact) then you were given BAD advice to retract the foreskin. On an intact infant penis, the foreskin should NEVER be forcibly retracted. This tears the skin away from the head of the penis and is an invitation for infection and foreskin damage. On intact boys, the foreskin will retract on it's own sometime between age 1 and puberty (anywhere in that range is normal).

I know this is possibly more information than you were looking for but I wanted to get it out there for others reading as well. There is a lot of misinformation out there about the foreskin, even from medical professionals.

Hope things get better for your little boy. My youngest had adhesions and it was horrible, but they did heal and he is ok now. It will get better for your little one as well.

i forgot the tech term for it but if you google the diff between circumcison/not to circucise it will tell you about how the skin can re-attach it self either way you go so you may want to use vaseline or some type of lube when pulling it back and make sure he is not allergic to the lube

well on the contrary, my sister didnt ever pull back her sons to clean it, the tip turned red swollen and black, (infection...) i would say dont stretch it back that far, but do clean it or soke him in the tub... research......

When my son has his circumsion, They MESSED IT UP BIG TIME... I was told to do the same thing but my doctor however told me that if he is yelling and bleeding that i should stop.. They are telling me he may grow out of it and if not he will have to have another surgery.. However it runs on both side of family.. My hubby's and mine.. Poor little guy...

whoa!! why are you pulling his foreskin back? i thought it was "if intact, don't retract!" you only do what little you have to to clean it otherwise you can do serious damage. if your doc told you to do that, i'd find another doc. if he's circumcised, i have no idea, but if he's uncirced ..... you really shouldn't be pulling it back for anything. look up general care of uncirced boys and you'll find every site telling you to LEAVE IT. i don't know what all you'd have to do now that it's bleeding, but pulling it unnecessarily back can cause it to bleed. do tons of research. dont' just take doc's word. please please!!

Yep. Poor little guy. Regularly push it back and clean it, and in the meanwhile, a dab of vaseline will soothe & prevent it from sticking together while it's healing up.

i have not hat to do that for my son, you may need to get the extra skin removed because when he gets older you dont want him to zip that up in his zipper, my brother is in his 30 and had to get surgery to get extra skin removed cause it was giving him problems because he kept zipping it up in his zipper...i feel sorry for the little guy hope that little advice helped...

my oldest sons circumsion healed together and it wasn't noticed by the dr until he was several months old so the dr had to push the skin back and "bust" it back open or apart, it was horrible i was so mad that it took them so long to notice that.

I have and the doctor is the one who told me I have to pull it back. She pulled part of it back and told me I had to work on the rest @ home or I could bring him back in for her to do it. I have two other boys and never had this happen. I feel so sorry for my little guy.

OUCH!!! I've never had to do that with my son. Have you taken him to the doc? If so what does he say about it?
