i had a miscarriage, d & c, and fell immediately pregnant - no problems, healthy baby boy 8 lbs 14 (my girls were 7lbs 3 and 7 lbs 5) son turned 24 last friday 15th june - yes it DOES happen and can be wonderful!!

My first 2 pregnancies were misscarriages. I was 12 weeks along with both, but never had to have a dnc. Then I had my first daughter. A few years later I had another misscarriage at 8 weeks. 5 months after that misscarriage I found out I was pregnate with my 2nd daughter. So never give up it will happen when the time is right!! i had a miscarriage 5 weeks ago also and i was 17wks n 6days ,i havent had a peroid either ,idk if im pregnant or not did you find out if you were pregnant?

5 miscarriages and 4 D&C's with 3 living children. You should see your doctor and take a test in the office. I was pregnant every year from 1993 till 1998. Don't give up but be careful and take care of yourself .

I have had it happen twice. I had to have a D&C with both of my miscarriages and I got pregnant after both successfully. I got pregnant with my daughter about 5 months after, and my son 2 months after.

In both cases I got pregnant the moment both my body and mind were healed enough to handle another pregnancy.

I had a miscarrage and a d&c in December 2010, never had a period then found out I was pregnant in March 2011. I was scared it would happen again but thankfully didn't. I hope everything works out for you.

in may 2009 i had my 1st miscarriage which i had to have a d&c done, den i got preg in july that yr which resulted in my 2nd miscarriage no d&c needed there but i got preg in jan 2010 and luckly it was a very healthy pregnancy and had a baby girl.. so it can happen, my fingers crossed for u :)

My only advice for a pregnancy after a miscarriage is not to put your hopes in the new pregnancy making "amends" for the lost baby. It takes a long time to find peace in your loss, regardless of whether a new little one is on the way. You still have to go through the mourning process. It is sooo important and it will allow you to truly find closure with that chapter of your life. You will always remember, you will always wonder, but you won't always be hung up by it.

I had my miscarriage in November 2011. I was about 13 weeks, although my doctor said the sac was about 7 weeks along. I decided to have a D & C as my first miscarriage in 2006 was a lot to handle (twins - found out after the miscarriage), and I had hoped that a D&C would let me heal faster (phyically and mentally). I had been seeing a fertility doctor when I did get pregnant without the help of him (we'd been trying for over a year) and after the D&C I did not have a period for about 5 months. The first period was very light, brown, not much to it. The next one, was OMG pain and heavy heavy heavy bleeding. And unfortunatly, we still haven't gotten pregnant again. Although between my miscarriages we did have 1 beautiful little girl (now 4). My fertility doctor is saying that because I had gestational diabetes with my little girl, that I have now become diabetic, and have higher blood pressure so that may be our infertility reason and have to get all of that under control.

I wish you happy healing, and when or if another baby comes along, a healthy pregnancy, but good health to you overall.

I had a miscarriage which was followed by a d&c. I did not get my period for two months. I went back to my doctor and he gave me a progesterone (I think) shot to start my cycle. The doctor had told me if I didn't get it on it's own I would need to have the shot. I think he said my body still thought it was pregnant and not functioning correctly. You may want to check with your physician.

I have had three miscarriages first one I fell pregnant almost a year later do to the mourning process and lack of support from the father. I had my son with that pregnancy then my husband had two miscarriages the following two years and now we are pregnant againand our lil miracle is due next month! You will find at times that u want a baby so bad but other times you space ur self from others that r pregnant and or ones that just had the new ones cause its hard to cope with the feelings. It took me a year to try again on each, and a roller coaster of emotions and fear for each time I got pregnant. I looked for support groups this time around after we found out. They helped a lot!!!!

Yes, years ago. I think it was about 6-7 weeks. Your body still thinks its pregnant for a time after your miscarriage, until your hormone levels maintain. Sorry for your loss :(

Yes, I had a misscarriage before having any of my children. I had to have a D&C as well. I did not have my first period for 2 months, which was a long time I thought. Once I had "one normal period" i was given the go ahead to try to get pregnant again. We did get pregnant about 3 months after that. It was excruciating having to wait that long, but it was well worth the wait. I wish you luck. It is a sad and emotinal time, but with support and love you will get though it. There is always something good that comes from something bad. Good is on it's way!

When I had mine, I was told my next period could be late and would be very light. Right on time, I bled heavily enough to have to go to the doctor. Every body is different. If you are worried, ask your doctor.
What does your doctor say about trying again soon? I was told to wait at least three months. If you don't let your body heal between pregnancies, you greatly increase your risk of miscarriage and premature birth and enough of them will take years off your life too.
You also need time to heal emotionally. No matter how soon in the pregnancy it happens, you still lost a child and you need to let yourself grieve for that also.

I had a miscarriage in April. It took about 5 weeks for me to get my period back. And it was a pretty bad one too. Your body may be trying to get back on track, so think about when you would normally have your period and that should be around the time you have your next one. Mine was right on schedule as if I had never been pregnant. A miscarriage is very hard to go through and then to worry about this is an added annoyance. Hope your doing well!!!!

Hi everyone thank u for all ur great comments I have just got a bit of spotting brown stuff but it's so little i don't think it's a period. I finally decided I want to fall pregant and I am not getting on anything but we are not going to try or not try. Just let's see what happens. Before the miscarrage we were not trying I was happy to not get pregant for a very long times but ever since the miscarrage I can't stop wanting it well we were going to have another baby anyway so why not get our family over and done with it. Amanda, first I'm sorry for your loss. Having a miscarriage is never easy, especially when you want to have a baby so bad. Back in the year 2000, My husband and I decided to try and have a baby. I had 2 miscarriages that year...in 2001, I had another 2 miscarriages and over those four years, I had 2 D&Cs done. I wasn't sure if I could go on anymore but I still wanted a baby that I actually thought about adoption. My husband didn't want to go that route and wanted our own child. We eneded up going to a specialist to find an answer...over the next six months of tests and meetings we found an answer. My miscarriages were all happening around week 8 and found during that time, my Progesterone levels were dropping. I had to take Progesterone shots everyday for the first 12 weeks until after the first trimester. Today, I have 3 very healthy children, 9, 8 and 3-1/2, but had to do those shots with everyone of them. My situation may be very different than yours, but bottom line is...don't give up. Miscarriages do happen, it doesn't mean there is something extremely wrong...and I think you are suppose to wait 2-3 months? (I don't really remember) after a D&C to let your body heal before trying again. Good Luck!

I can't speak from personal experience but a friend that was living with me at the time it happened. She had a miscarriage and never got her period. She went back to see if her hormone level went back to normal and it turned out she was pregnant again. I'm sorry for ur lose.

I feel for you. I still remember how I felt. I had a m/c at 8 weeks and ERPC (think thats the same as D&C). I was devastated and desperate to try again. I didnt have a period for almost 4 months after. I think my body was in shock. After 6 months I realised I hadn't dealt with my loss and went for counselling which I found really helpful. I fell pregnant again after 8 months but unfortunately that one wasnt to be either. But on the positive side I now have a ds and another one on the way. So although I will never forget my loss I do have a happy ending. So hang in there and try talking to someone as it can really help.

I know how you feel, it's a very sad time, my family and friends are all fab - it was not your fault and life will get better, we have two wonderful children and my husband is fantastic - your period
will return - just enjoy what you have and will have in the future

nov 2009 i had a healthy baby girl. jan 2011 i miscarried at 10 weeks (i didnt have a d&c)it took over a month before my period returned. then dec 1, 2011 i miscarried again at 6 weeks (i didnt have a d&c) i only bled for a week and tried to concieve again right away so dec 30, 2011 i found out i was preggo again and my period had never even returned yet so i would have concieve less than 2 weeks after my miscarried. so im now almost 25 weeks preggo due sept 5, 2012.

I have had several miscarriages (3) but only needed a D & C after one of them. Dr told us to wait a few months at least before trying to have another baby after the D & C, we did & got pregnant 4 mos later. Baby was strong & healthy & I have had 4 kids since that D & C.

Sorry to hear of your loss. The unfortunate truth on miscarriages is that they are quite common. I had one prior to the birth of my first child 4 1/2 years ago. My doctor actually suggest that I give my body about 6 weeks to heal before even considering another pregnancy. Best of luck to u

I had a missed miscarriage in late Sept 09, a D&C on Oct 16 and a healthy boy 41 weeks and 2 days later (measuring 40 weeks 2 days gestation).

The loss of a child 5 weeks within the womb or 5 weeks outside of the womb is still the loss of a child and deserves a bit of time for the grieving process.
Sometimes the body can enter a state of 'shock' while the mind readjusts to the loss.
After our baby died and I had a D&C it took a bit of time for my body to come back, (a year later I had our last child).
I had a small memorial service for the baby (just myself and the older children)~ played music, lit and candle and wished the child well. It helped me to process and move forward.
If you are really concerned then perhaps you could see your doctor.

I lost my baby, at 14 weeks, 10 weeks ago. I had a D & E. I still have not gotten my period. My hcg is normal for a non-pregnant woman and there is no tissue left in my uterus. I guess the emotional stress can really wreak havoc on our bodies and cycles. Best wishes to you and sorry for your loss.

You need to get hold of your doctor, explain your situation, and probably schedule a D&C. Mine was done under general anesthesia, and was a quick, easy procedure. Sorry for your loss. :(

This is quite common after a d&c. Normally a period will return about 6 weeks in. Dont panic just yet!

I have been having sex everyday with my partner I am hoping I am pregant again but I know just cause other women fall straight away dose not mean I will hey I am just so upset and I don't think I am over it yet

Before I had my youngest, I had a miscarriage and D&C in the March, had one period, then fell pregnant again. I had another miscarriage in early June, and then 5 weeks after that (no regular period), tested positive again and had my daughter in March. If you have had sex since your D&C you could well be pregnant, but if not, don't worry, it should be fine.

My first pregnancy was a miscarriage and I had to have a D&C. I can't remember how long it took for my cycle to come back but it wasn't very long as I fell pregnant 4 months later with my now (almost) 11yo. I have since had another 2 children and haven't had any further miscarriages.
