My daughter was born 11 week early n weighed 2lbs 13 oz. she has a very mild case of celebral palsey from her having to be on oxygen. my best advice is NEVER put her in a walker this leads to lots of develpmental problems in prem term children, speaking from experience. try not to let the fact they were born early stop you from letting them hit their mild stones.

My Daughter did have seizures for a time, but appears to have grown out of them. There has been recent discovery of a heart valve non life threatening challenge, but other than that...Praise be to God...she's good at 26 years old.

My girl was born 8 weeks early weighing less than 3lbs ( unsure of her exact weight as TOO ill to weigh in the beginning ) - 13 weeks in ICU. Everytime I went home I never knew if she would still be with us next morning. She was so very ill they did not know what to do - they even rang America to get some answers. They decided an operation was the only way to go but the morning before the scheduled operation she suddenly picked up started to improve and the operation was not needed. She is now 18 and fighting fit. They all catch up in the long run even though she was 36 months behind her age group for most of her life.

My daughter was born at 34 weeks and stayed 15 days in special care. She was 20 inches and 5 lbs 13 oz. I walk every year for the March of Dimes to help other moms who are less fortunate with thier own outcomes. Some times it helps the healing process to be proactive after your child is a little more grow. we all have our own ways of cooping.

My son was 5 weeks early. He weighed 5 lbs.,5ozs. and was 181/2 inches long. When he was born his bowels weren't developed so we had to give him infant suppositories and karo syrup in his formula just to get his bowels to work. He also was born with no hair or eyelashes. Now he is 18 years old with long eyelashes that I would love to have and a thick head of hair. He is also taller than me by leaps and bounds! Enjoy your children because they grow up so very fast!

My son is now 24 years old - so this was awhile ago. But he was born 8 weeks early and weighed 3 lbs. 5 oz. He was in Nicu for a month and weighed 4 lbs when he came home. My prayers are with you and your little one. I know how hard it is. My second child....a daughter....was also 8 weeks premature. At that point the doctor said if I had anymore they would probably all be premie. She weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz. The dr. said she would have been a big baby if I had gone full term.

I had a premature daughter. She was born at 29 weeks gestation and weighed 1 pound 4 ounces. She was about 12 inches long. She is now a happy, healthy 5 year old with no delays or surgeries!! She is still small though. She currently weighs 31 pounds and is 39.5 inches tall. She is as smart as a whip!!

I had my oldest daughter 7 weeks early weighing 4lb 12oz. I had bleeding from the placenta and we are lucky that we are both here today. I couldn't hold her when she was 1st born as they had to rush her to special care. When they took me to see her a while after I was so scared to touch her as she was so tiny in her incubator with tubes everywhere. I was able to bring her home on Christmas Day. The best present ever!

my first cam early, 5 weeks but I had gestational diabetes so baby was quite big (6lb 11oz) for a prem, but still went into special care as had severe jaundice, this went on for months. Had to return to hospital once let out and stayed in the rainbow ward for few days. Very frightening having a prem baby, I breast fed so was able to stay in with baby.

Back in 1984 I had a preemie born at 26-27 weeks.. She weighed 1 lb. 10 oz.. She looked like a chicken. She had trouble with her lungs, a Grade 4 brain bleed, retinopathy of prematurity in her right eye and left-sided hemiparesis. She now has 2 shunts, wears contact lenses and has a very slight limp. She went to a great college, with no problems. She is an actress in NYC and loves it. She is now going vegan, which makes her feel great. It was a very long road, but we always let her know that she could do anything. She had great perserverance when she was born(that's why she lived) and continues to have that same spirit now. Don't every hold your child back for they will blossom!

Yes, my baby was 35 weeks old, he was born at 3 lbs. was incubated for just over 2 weeks and finally got out of ICU in 3 weeks. He is now 2, and now weighs 33lbs. perfectly normal and great, but he is only now recovered from stage 4 hepatoblastoma cancer and is once again a healthy happy child.

My son was born at 33wks he weighed 4lb13oz. Spent 4 weeks in SCBU and is now about to turn 3 and is healthy and on parr with kids same age. He did use to wheeze alot when little but there are no lasting effects of that now. Its definately not how we would have liked to have our first baby but we made it through! My 2nd son was born at 39weeks so one prem baby doesnt always mean your next will be.
