I was really lucky when my kids got it they missed the mouth part whichis worst and just got the blisters on there hands and feet and it only lasted a very short time 4-7 days unfortunatly then i got it 2 weeks later the last blister went from my mouth and i felt fine except for eating salty or acidic foods they made it sting.

well let me tell you my horrible experience with this...my daughter started out with a high fever so we called the dr and they said to keep her cool (it was about 90 that summer) and alternate tylenol and motrin. ok so a week later she still had the fever and one morning she woke up and was doing this twitchy thing so i called the dr back and since he was 40 minutes away he said to go to the ER. well that STUPID dr first tried some sick humor...Eden had a blister on her lip and when i asked about it she laughed and asked why i hit her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then said o just kidding haha! EXCUSE ME??? anyway she then proceded to tell me that my daughter had strep throat and wanted to give her a shot of penecillion. it took 3 adults to hold her down and give it to her. so they said that she would be good as new in 2-3 days. well she seemed to get worse. she wouldn't eat or drink anything but a few sips of milk. and she still had the fever. so i called her regular dr back and ended up talking to the one on call and he said that babies that young don't usually get strep throat and that it was hand, foot and mouth virus.

he said to 1. give her kool aid to drink- the sugar would sooth her throat.

2. take 1/8 tsp of benadryl and mix it with 1/2 tsp of mylanta and let her sip it. the benadryl will numb the mouth and throat and the mylanta will just help it stay in the mouth. other than that there really isn't much else you can do. just keep them comfortable and let it run it's course. that was the worst 3 weeks ever!!! good luck.

Yes I am getting a sore thoat now and have a sore in my mouth.  So yea it's lovely.  And they tell you to not kiss on eachother or whatever and how do you tell a 20month old that she can't give her mommy kisses.  Yea right!

It has gone around my daughter's daycare several times. My husband, daughter and I have all got it a couple times this year. For us it wasn't as bad. We didn't need to miss work or anything it was just annoying like a bunch of cold sores in your mouth and throat. My hands were itchy. But for my daughter it was worse. I hope it passes quickly!

My son had it when he was very little - It was awful. We couldn't get him to eat or drink anything, so he was dehydrated. But, it passed...

I think the only way to deal with it is panadol there is no other treatment unless you go see your doc we had it a while ago through daycare my son skipped it but there was a write up saying use panadol its just one of those things .

actually I havn't heard of it in years.  My brothers and I all had it back then but in short it is where you get small blisters on your hands, feet, and in your mouth.  Sometimes on the butt.  and it's contagious.  mainly in small kids.

thanks.  I remember my brothers having it as kids and their still living lol so I am sure she will get over it.  Just frustrating for her and me.

My 27 year old daughter got that when she was 2 years old.  Needless to say I really don't remember what I did for her but I do remember it took a while but she did get over it and grew into a wonderful young woman.
