This sounds weird but about a week ago my 11 month old son got a hoarse sounding voice like he had a sore throat. He had no other symptons. I took him to the doctor and he checked out okay - ears, nose, throat, chest, etc. The doctor said maybe it was something viral. It has been over a week and he stills sounds the same. Has anyone else experienced this?

My daugther, had the same problem, and the doctor keep saying it was fine, she is 11 now and she still have a strong voice, however one thing i learned is to trust your guts, you are the Mom, and if something does not look right maybe is because is not, stand up to your doctor and do some research in the internet before you go and ask questions, he may won't like you much but in the other hand that is your son not his. Take care i hope this help you.

My daughter had a very gruff voice for years until two things happend... 1, she had her tonsils out and tubes put in her ears, which slightly changed her voice because her throat was clearer and fluid started draining where it should rather than into her throat. 2, we found out she had acid reflux which was burning her throat. Obviously surgery is not an option for you if he is all healthy otherwise, but try giving him a tums once a day... best in the evening before bed. It's good for him and if this is happening, it will help.

My daughter had acid reflex (GERD) which caused her voice to sound hoarse but she also other symptoms such as, colic-crying, projected spit up and her breath would smell like stomach acid. If your son doesnt have any other symptoms, then this probably isn't it?

my son had acid reflex & it made his voice/noises sound hoarse but if your son isn't having any other symptoms then that probably isn't it? Have you recently changed any of the foods he eats?

My son had a period of time where he sounded like he was kind of congested. It sounded like he had some flemmy stuff in his throat but didn't know how to clear it out. He went in for his 2 month check up and like your son, checked out completely fine. It ended up just clearing up by itself.
