i got my son vaccinated last month. he didn't run a fever or anything. however, if you are really concerned you should ask if there have been any botched batches of the vaccine.

The vaccine isn't going to harm your children. It's better to have it and not get sick or risk getting anyone else sick than to take your chances that you or your children don't get exposed to H1N1. What kind of research are you hoping to find? Success rates? Long-term outcomes? H1N1 is a virus. What's in the vaccine is not live virus. (unless it's the nasal dose) The vaccine is designed not to make you or your children sick. Some people may have a reaction but the reaction to the vaccine is far less detrimental than the reaction to the actual virus in all it's virulence. Both of my children got the nasal vaccine and both did fine. There's a slightly higher risk with the nasal vaccine because it does contain live virus but the chances of contracting H1N1 from the nasal vaccine are slim, very slim. The benefits far outweigh the risks.

Info I have read & heard is that the swine flu is not different than any flu. Any death related to the flu (any flu) have been only from secondary conditions. If your child has serious health problems you can consider the flu shot but if your child is healthy there is no reason to do it. I feel this supposed epidemic is a way for the government to make money off of us and it is unnessesary, and I am not alone.

I actually work in a drs office where we do primarily travel vaccines (for people going to foreign countries). We have been giving the swine flu vaccine for a few months now and Ive not had a single person call reporting negative side effects. My son, who just turned 5, received both the seasonal and Swine vaccines this year in the FluMist form. The mist freaks a lot of people out because they hear "live vaccine". It is a VERY weakened form of the virus and, honestly, you come across more live virus on surfaces you touch every day during flu season. There are studies that show that the Mist provides much better protection. He had 2 of each (seasonal and H1N1) and had no problems with any of them, but got a slight low fever and stuffy nose with the first swine flu mist.... it was gone in less than 24 hours.... which is good. It means his body is producing the antibodies to fight all that crap off. As moms, we are all going to do what WE feel is best and safest for our kiddos. So far, he has been sick WAY less than last year.
Also, it seems scary cuz the vaccine seems "new". It's really not. Every year, they anticipate which strains to put into the "flu vaccine" If H1N1 had become an issue sooner, it would have just been included in your seasonal flu. The problem was that they had already begun production on the Seasonal Flu, so H1N1 had to become its own deal. Next year, it will likely just be included in with all the other strains. :P Hope this helps!

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! there have been kids who were healthy and just fine until they got the vacine. And not only that but they are discovering side effects now from when they first gave out the vaccine back in 70s. I am completely against the vaccine. To many people have gotten sick.

I took my daughter because she has really bad asthma. If she didn't I would have never taken her. I agree that there isn't enough research but I did not want to take the risk of her getting it with her asthma. Everyone I know had it really bad in the chest!!

I'm with you on this, i'm not anti-vaccine in general but the only research I can find on the swine flu one is NHS propaganda and anecdotal. So for now i've decided she's not having it. Another consideration for me is by the time there is some solid research the scare will by over and the next one will be here.
