We have all been there. My daughter fell forward onto the tv table and had a huge black lump right in the middle of her forehead. I put a cold compress on it immediately but boy it was huge it made me feel sick just to look at it. Everyone feels awful when there little ones hurt themselves it is just a motherly thing. I am sure you are not a horrible mother. Don't be so hard on yourself these things happen.

It happens! My son fell off a chair that we had told him several times not to climb on, face first onto the floor and split his eyebrow. Bleeding and huge black eye for a couple of weeks. I work at a childcare and I see good parents with bruised children often enough, falling out of bed, onto toys, we've even had a couple of mishaps at the centre when kids have just been running outside and they fall and hit something! Its not healthy for kids to be wrapped in bubble wrap all day, so accidents will happen!

Every mother experiences this at least once, Arnica cream is fantastic for knocks it helps keep the swelling right down.

My SD has had one. She was just learning to walk and fell into my mom's coffee table. I felt so bad. It seemed at the time everytime I watched her for her BM. She'd hurt herself somehow! Luckily, her BM was understanding. And it had gone down quite a bit by the time she went home. I couldn't say the same for my hubby though, he was pretty worked up about it. I didn't really understand at the time how often 12-18 months hurt themselves when they're just learning to walk.

My son has had 3. He's always walking into walls. :/ He's clumsy like me. The first one was on that same dang coffee table at my mom's. *shakes fist at coffee table*. He too, was just learning to walk.

The second time, I honestly don't remember what he did exactly. It was pretty close to the time of the first one and probably had something to do with him not being steady on his feet yet, factoring in his natural clumsiness. ;)

The third time was when he had just turned two and graduated from the booster seat to the big chair at the kitchen table. (he's very tall.)

He was always doing acrobatics on those chairs. I was constantly saying: "You're gonna hurt yourself. Sit nice!"

Well, he fell. Really bad! He hit the metal leg of the table right inbetween his eyes. *cringe* He had a huge goose egg right inbetween his eyes, it looked like a 3rd eye. I think that was the worst one. I took him to his doctor's for it but he didn't seem as concerned as I was. Just told me to give him some children's tylenol and use ice. Yeah right, try getting a 2 year old to let you hold ice on his head.

My daughter is 12 months now and so far no goose eggs. She isn't quite walking yet though, just cruising. So it's probably only a matter of time. :/

I remember myself, my sister and my brother getting quite a few when we were kids too.

I have all boys; ages 4years in june, 3 years in june, 13 months, and 6 weeks old. My two older boys have gotten lots of goose egg bumps, none bad enough to take to the hospital though. The other day my cousin spun around my 3 year old until he was dizzy and let him walk and hit his head off a wooden kitchen set and got to big goose bumps. We put ice on him and lots of love but once he was done crying he asked to do it again! I don't panic anymore when they get the bumps and I always ask if they are ok when it happens.

Oh yes. I have four kids and it seems like each one of them has had one or two really bad ones. I've had to watch to make sure their behavior is "normal" wondering if I need to take them to the ER. Luckily we haven't had to do that, but we keep boo boo bags (rice packs) in the freezer ready for such moments. Then they get lots of snuggles and loves from me while I hold them and the boo boo bag on the goose egg. I know it's no fun when your little one is hurt so bad and there's not a lot you can do to help.

Oh ya my middle son fell and hit a fire hydrant when he was 2. He had the largest egg on his head to the point he looked like the elephant man.
