Having more children to get the sex of a child you want ?

We have a bit of the opposite. Our first was a boy, our second a girl. My hubby wanted a boy and me a girl, but in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter what the gender is, you love them for who the are, not what is between their legs. People are shocked when I say I would love a third, as if when you have one of each you shouldn't have any more. To me, it is not about the gender, but about having more children to love. I personally think people get way to hung up on it. If my daughter had been a boy would I love her any less or be Disappointed? Of course Not! We got the children God intended us to have.Any

Kimberly, that is just awful that she 'grieved' when finding out she was having another boy. We should be thankful and happy we have happy, healthy babies.

I always really wanted a girl and was very lucky that my first was a girl. I wasnt going to go back for another because I had what I wanted but now find myself pregnant again lol!!! Everyone says this one is a boy or would be great to be a boy but I really dont care either way, another girl would be great as we have everything for a girl but I boy would be awesome for my husband( dont know what to really do with a boy though!!) This will be it no matter the sex but yes I do know people who kept having babies to get what they wanted. One girl told me she was finding out the sex of her second because if it was another boy she would need time to grieve before he was born, yes 'GRIEVE' it was a boy and she went back and finally got her girl. Dont know when she would have stopped if she hadnt

I would never keep going to get another sex. I have 4 boys and I am thrilled, it was what was meant to be for our family.

I would like a girl, but I'm also happy if I get another boy. (I have a son and am pregnant again) If it's a girl, I think we'll for sure try to go again, just so that there will be two of one kind or another to give more cohesiveness to our family. But I think we wanted 3 or 4 anyway. We'll see how we feel after this one is born! I don't understand those people who have such strict plans for something that is totally out of their control.



Funny story: Two of my uncles kept having kids, they each have 7! 7 boys in one family, 7 girls in the other. My aunts were pregnant and due at the same time (so far one had 6 boys and the other had 2 girls) and they agreed to switch babies if they got ANOTHER same-gender, but... they both thought it wasn't such a great plan once their babies were born. :) My cousins still get teased by their parents that they nearly were raised in the other family.

I know someone who had a boy and wanted a girl. They tried again and got twin boys. They didn't try anymore. lol



I always wanted a boy. My last child IS a boy. I did try to have him, but if he had been a girl I still would've loved and wanted 'her' just as much and I still would've been done having babies.



Trying to have more and more babies than you really want JUST to get a certain sex is, imo, ridiculous, but I don't think there is anything wrong with trying for a certain sex within the number of kids you want anyway.



I know another woman who did want a girl and ended up with three boys. She never tried JUST for a girl though. They ended up with the number of children that they wanted and are very happy with all their boys. And are happy to 'borrow' my girls to buy and do the girly things for. ;)

Hi Stacey,
I have 2 boys and I at one time wanted a 3rd but talked it over with my husband and decided to just stay at 2. I would have only to the step to have a 3rd knowing full well that if by the same man I would likely have a boy. I just wanted a heathy baby no matter what the sex. I have a few friends who kept trying for the opposite sex and when the sex was revealed to be the same as what they already had, they cried. I just can't wrap my head around that.

I have two boys and supposedly another on the way. I am 31 weeks right now. It took lots of discussing with my husband to try for a third so this is it. I haven't even given birth to this one yet and I already have people asking if we will try again lol. In all honesty, I think 3 kids is enough for us though. Plus you never know, you could keep trying and trying and end up with 10 kids before you get the opposite gender.

That is exactly the same as my sister she had two boy's and then a girl to a different father, she also say's her girl is harder work.
I watched this program called something like 15 and still trying,one of the mum's on there just wanted a girl and wasn't stopping till she got her!

I knew a family that had 7 boys trying for that elusive girl!!!!

I had 2 boys from my 1st marriage and when my hubby and I decided to have one of our own he said he would give me a girl. He did so I tell people I had to change husbands for the girl and it worked :-)

No more kids for me though. 1 girl is more than enough, the boys are so much easier!!!!
