Having problems with full diapers in the morning

I'm having a problem with my son's diapers being too full in the morning when he wakes up. I feed him 8 oz. before bed (8 pm) and by the time he wakes up at 8 am his diapers are usually full enough that they have begun to leak out and get on his pj's. I have been using Target diapers for the last few months, when they started to get full, I then switched to Huggies Little Movers. Once the Huggies started leaking, I started using Pampers Cruisers, which have also leaked. I'm mildly discouraged because I see Huggies has overnight diapers, but my son isn't yet heavy enough to use them. Anyone have any other experience in this area that could give me some advice??

When my son started wetting through his diapers I just moved up to the next size. Worked like a charm. After that anytime he wet thru a diaper I took it as an indication that he needed the next bigger size. He often wasn't quite the weight on the box, but he has REALLY chubby little legs, so the smaller ones weren't fitting quite right around the groin and they would leak. the bigger diapers gave a little more room there and they fit nice and snug, but covered better.

you dont need to go by the weight on the nappies, just do them up tighter as they will also come up higher which means less likely to leak out

Isn't that the worst? No matter what brand I use my 8mo pees right through them. I'm about to double up for the night. They even have night times ones, and they don't work. Sounds like your story is the same as mine!!! Duct tape???? Just kidding. It's VERY frustrating.

Did you try the Luv's? My daughter pees thru all of the brands except that one...

duct tape? good one!!

i also use Luvs and they rarely ever leak, and they are also cheaper!!

I use huggies supreme, my son generally is down for the night by 7pm, so when he wakes for his 11pm feeding (he's bf) once he's done eating i change is diaper and then he goes til about 7am. but even when I wasn't changing his diaper during the night i had no leaks come morning. he's just started having messy diapers late night but as of that they keep the pee in quite well.

i use diapers that are a size bigger. my 6 month old is in size 2's and i use a size 3 at night. there a little bigger but you can always make them as tight as you want. and it seems to work

Have you tried Luv's? Once my baby out grew pamper swaddlers for newborns I pretty much used Luv's from then on. I just bought some Huggies Little Movers and even tho she is in size 5 they still leak. Luv's actually last all night long for her.... so I'm gona switch back once I finish these. Luv's are cheaper then Huggies and Pampers too :)

my son is not in the weight categorgy for the huggies overnight but they work awesome! You can always fasten the a bit tighter if you need to! what size diapers is he in? If hes in 3 I would say do the 4s in overnight! They absorbe so much more!

I had a problem with leaky diapers and had called the company. They told me that the absorbency is greater as the diapers go up in size. I tried the next largest diaper and it solved the problem. If he is close to the next size bump him up, if they are a little big try pulling them up and folding the top until he grows into them.

my oldest son went through a stage of that for a long time. every morning we would have soaked pajamas and have to change the sheets. no matter what diapers we used he did it. he just recently stopped that because we just got rid of the bottle at night and he only gets a sippy cup which he usually doesnt drink. but now we are starting to have the same problem with my other son. : ) for us its just something we deal with until they stop.

he might be ready to go up to the next size of diaper if he's leaking out. My daughter did that at the in between stages as she was getting close to the wieght limit then she'd leak out. or she was drinking too much and might have needed and ounce or so less in the bottle. check how close together your giving the bottles and if he's had a good wet diaper between bottles.

Two of my friends had problems with this with their boys. One switched to Pamper's baby dry and the other used the Walmart store brand and both worked.

I wouldn't wake him up. Sometimes our son falls asleep w/ his underwear on and I have to wake him up to put on a diaper (he's only 2 so not potty trained at night) and it's horrible. He is cranky. Half the time he cries n cries. He rolls over on his stomach n closes his legs which makes it impossible to get a diaper on. I would definitely use this as a last resort.

He's 8 1/2 months, he usually doesn't wake up unless his teeth are bothering him. I could wake him up, but i fear it would be difficult to get him back to sleep after the process of getting him in and out of his sleep sack and pj's.

Huggies supremes might be a little more absorbent,(cost a little more also) so it's worth a try. I have not tried it with my 4 kids, but another mom told me she would attach a ladies pad to the inside of the diaper to add another layer of absorbency. Also make sure that you are pulling up the sides of the diaper (blue/green elastic stuff) all the way across since it's usually stuck down to the lining and doesn't prevent leaks that way. And you might want to try a size larger diaper I don't know what age your son is, but I know with my kids when they started to leak from too full it was a sign to try the next biggest one. The weight ranges are usually not terribly accurate, I usually wind up finding the lower end of the scale works best, not the higher one. Hope this helps!

My 1st question is how old is your son?

But I had this problem with my daughter when she was younger, she is 1 now. I don't think there is much you can do about it at a young age....since a bottle is thier primary source of nutrition. I also have a 2 month old son and what you are saying is exactly what happens with him. 8 ozs around 8 or 9pm and when he wakes up around 8 or 9am he has wet through the diaper to his PJs. I only use Pampers cause my kids have a reaction to something in Huggies. One thing I noticed to work the majority of the time...it takes my son a good 45 minutes to get the 8 ozs down...so I change his diaper immediately after he is done eating. If your son eats faster than that I would change his diaper RIGHT before you feed him...OR if he is awake for a while after he eats is night bottle, change him right before you put him to sleep.

When they are older (as with my daughter) you can start reducing the amount of liquids they have before bed. My daughter still goes to bed with a sippy cup....but it is only 1/2 full...if that. Also water or juice tends to go right through them, which is why my daughter gets milk at night. She sucks it all down...THEN falls asleep so I am not worried about her teeth.

Hope this helps :o)

Personally we put on an extra dose of baby powder on at night and our son rarely soaked through. It seemed to absorb a lot.

how old is your son, maybe what you should do is just change his diaper once in the middle of the night, an he should go right back to sleep or an this might sound crazy maybe put two diapers on him at night,an for the overnight diapers if your son is just like 3 or 4 pounds under the min weight for that diaper he should be ok to use them hope this help
