I loved it! I had the book and read a little before my baby was born. Once he was here, I put the book away and forgot about it...until at 4 months he wouldn't sleep and I didn't know how many naps he needed. I read the book and it has been a lifesaver. I have even been able to help my sister and her baby who wouldn't sleep and it got worse and worse. The first couple of nights were really hard and I had to take a bath and let my husband deal with it (he did a better job of ignoring it.), but after a couple of nights, he may wimper a little at night but he goes right down. (naps are different cause he can hear people and wants to be in the middle of stuff so we are still working on that) I also loved that it isn't straight up "cry it out." He tells you to pretty much listen to you and how you feel. If after 15 minutes or so they are still crying, go in and soothe and then put them back down. I liked that better than the harsh cry it out for hours and hours. Try it out and do what's best for you and your family, but it really worked for me and worth it I think. Good Luck!

Yes. I have this book since day 1 and it was really helpful. I know every child and every experience is different but without this book I would be crying a lot more and longer. This book saved us money for going to see a sleep consultant. I hope you will find it helpful too. Best of luck to you!

Jill...I'm still nursing so I just giving him the breast.  He really goes to town too...gulp, gulp, gulp...different than the comfort suck.

When he wakes do you still give him a bottle? My son used to wake up a few times so I tried eliminating a bottle during the night. I first did it by giving him Fennel tea during the night and he didnt like it so he wouldnt drink it. He then eventually stopped asking for a bottle in the middle of the night. I also would give him water in his bottle. At night he really preferred milk. I dont know if this will help completely with him waking up (my son still wakes up once a night here and there) but it may eliminate the numbers of times he wakes up!

I love this book. I have used this book though out my daughters life.  I reread parts of it today for my 23 month old. . It is hard... but it eventually works. It may make you cry too, but soon it gets better. Everyone will get some sleep. You can try the gradual extinction too. It might be easier emotionally.

I just recently read the book and would highly recommend it. I've also read The No Cry Sleep Solution (with no luck) and Babywise. I liked Healthy Sleep Habits because it explained what I've been doing wrong and tells you what to do. I started using the info 3 days ago so I can't give you any results. But I can say the information in the book is very helpful. Good luck.

have you tried feeding him right before bed, like something heavy like the bby cereals or something like that. also in any natural food store, where you get the organic stuff, like trader joes, or small natural health food stores they sell homeopathic teas for kids that help with sleeping. but it has to be a place that sell homeopathic meds and things lik ethat .no pharmacys or gnc or anything like that. don't know where you from but here we have small natural health food stores like coops. and they sell all kinds of stuff i dont even use any meds anymore even for fever ,colds all kinds of things i use natural remedies or homeopathic meds. it works but talk to your doc i hope u find something
