Help! My 3 month old is suddenly not sleeping his 6 hour stretch!

As you know is the growth spurt!! My 3 month old baby is in the same mood but i keep trying to get him into his schedule. Just be patient!! and also his nap during day has changed... you are not alone... I'm in the same position like you ;-) Godd Luck!!

If it makes you feel any better my 2 year old doesn't sleep through the night either so at least your not the only one whos up, you know somewhere out there I am suffering with you ;)

Welcome to motherhood, were to be a member you learn the hard way that childrens sleep habits change 1000 times before they move out. A dirty little secert the members never tell none members, kinda like hemriods LOL.

Thanks ladies! I am a first time mom and am just not sure why my 3 month old is suddenly not sleeping. Thanks for your replies :) I figured it was a growth related thing cause he is my normal happy boy all day playing away and giggles and no crankiness. I started making 6 oz bottles and he has finished all but one so far today ! He also started rolling over yesterday so I figured it could be a milestone related thing also .

this is pretty standard all babies go through these stages. there are a few ways to deal with your 3 month old suddenly not sleeping. its a matter of what feels right for you. if he has a pacifier give it to him or try giving him a small top up. i was advised to do that if my son woke before midnight. give him a couple of reassuring pats to settle him back to sleep . if you are happy that there is not a major reason for him to wake when you get up leave it longer each time you will find after a few days he will make a few gurgles and fall straight back to sleep with out you having to get up. i did this with my now 12 month old he is a wonderful sleeper. on the odd occasion if i was was extremely tired i would just pick him up and take him back to bed with me. try not to do this every night as it will become a habit for him to wake and expect to sleep with you. i made that mistake with my first son. for the first few months you should always try and get a little extra rest while baby is sleeping during the day this makes the night time waking less tiresome. baby routines can be affected by growth spurts teething and sickness. my son would be in bed around 6pm so that meant he would wake anytime around midnight to 3 am until he was about 6 months old most nights it was easy to get him to settle again but some nights it would take longer those nights happened to be the nights i was more tired and generally coincided around immunisations and or sickness. i probably only get up to him about 1-2 times a month now. i gradually stretched his bed time from 6pm until around 7.30pm this allows us to include him in dinner as a family now and he sleeps until around 7am which works as an alarm clock for me to get up for the other children and school. good luck with your 3 month old suddenly not sleeping and rest when you can do just enough house work to get by when your baby starts crawling around that is the time for plenty of housework cos he will follow you and get into plenty of mischief.

Yes, he's probably going through a growth spurt. He'll want to eat more and if he's acting like he wants an extra feed in the middle of the night I'd give it to him.
