My daughter has a head full of pretty hair. However it is always tangled. I have put all types of conditioners and baby hair lotions to untangle her hair, but she still fights and cry when I am combing or brushing it. Now, both of us hate going throught the process because I feel I am really hurting her. I let it stay open now but her daddy wants her to look like a little princess with bows and ribbons all the time:( Does anyone else have this problem or have suggestions?

I keep a box filled with old costume jewelry that I let her look through and I sit her on my dresser in front of the mirror.  I still get a few tears now and then, but the distraction makes it much easier.

Quoting Porchia: "The only way I can do her hair is if I take her into the bathroom and sit her on the ledge of the sink and let her play with a little bit of running water to distract her. "

I agree with the quote above. My 14 month old fights me as well unless I give her something to distract her with. Distraction is the best way to go. If you let your child sit and scream and constantly fight her to brush her hair, it will never be a pleasant experience for either of you.

My neice was like that and my sister would get so frustrated everytime she did her hair. Also she would do her daughters hair when she was sleep. But on the other hand I'm a bit of a hard ass so I would just do her hair through all of the crying and what not. She needs to get used to having her hair done so if you can ignore the crying it will make things much easier. I also wash her hair in the bath tub, sprayed her hair with detangling spray, and combed through it.

I feel your pain! My daughter absolutely hates having a brush/comb go near her. The only way I can do her hair is if I take her into the bathroom and sit her on the ledge of the sink and let her play with a little bit of running water to distract her. She LOVES water. Maybe give that a try? I always make sure the brush/comb is wet while I do it as well.
