I would call the OB Doctor and let them know that you are in this much pain. If you feel that they are not giving you the help that you need then I would suggest that you find a new doctor. I hope all goes well with the new little one. My prayers are will you in the time of need.

What does your doctor suggest? Have you tried physical therapy?

i did this to my mum and mine to me, what helped us is stand facing someone tall (hubby or friend doesnt really matter) put your arms or hands (whatever can reach) around their neck and just rest on their body. it will take all the stress off your back...

hope this helps!
best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy, labour and delivery!

Hi, did you try to put a pillow between your legs or underneath your butt to sleep. I did that when I was pregnant with my last child and it worked. I still do it.

I feel ya, I am 32 weeks and suffer from the same pains as your going through. What helps me for my back I do baby yoga and pilates, I just check out the videos from our local library, I do the cat stretch every afternoon, the stretching helps so much. Also if you have access to a pool you will be amazed at how wonderful it feels to be in the water. Or just soak in a bath (not too warm though) at night I take one 500mg tylenol before going to bed, I am still stiff and achy when I wake up but I sleep so much better. I know your Dr. has probably told you no lifting, make certain that you aren't, I have other children as well so I will sit and hold them on my lap. Also drink lots of water and kick your feet up every chance you get, a heating pad on the lower back helps ease the pain as well. I live in AZ. so don't use mine often b/c its to dang hot ;) I hope some of these tips help a bit, hang in there you will be holding your precious baby in not time and all this suffering will be well worth it.

I dealt with a lot of sciatic pain when I was pregnant too. My legs and feet would start to tingle, as if they were asleep. The other ladies are right....water helps SO much! Other things I managed to find relief with was....
A backrub from hubby. It's more of a 'top of your buttcrack' than your BACK...but it's nicer to call it "my back".
Lay on a tennis ball. Sounds crazy...but it honestly does help when there's no one around to whine to.
A stretch my midwife showed me helps...I did it constantly. Rest both arms on a counter top. Spread your legs wider than your shoulders. Lift your toes to the ceiling, leaving all your weight on your heels. Now bend over as if you were going to kiss the counter. Rock your weight from one foot to the other. That feels GOOD! And it takes ALL pressure off your sciatic nerve.
Lay on your back draw your left knee up and stretch it over your body to the right side.
Having someone there to help pull your knees will be a HUGE help.
When I could afford them, I loved the hot patches they sell for sore muscles. They stick to your skin like a bandaid and emit a warmth that made me feel better.
Sleeping with that pillow between your legs makes a big difference too. Think about how your spine is 'sagging' when you lay on your side. That pillow keeps your legs straight, keeping your spine straight.
Check your yellow pages for a masseuse that advertises 'pregnancy massage'. It's a bit different, focusing on muscles stressed by pregnancy.
Your insurance may cover chiropractor visits if you can get a written diagnosis for your pregnancy induced sciatica. Call your ins. co. and ask. Mine covered it.
I hope you feel better soon!

If he is getting that big, you most likely will have to have a c-section I am assuming, mainly due to your and his size. I would speak to your doctor and explain it all, in 2 or 3 weeks you are normally safe to deliver and they will plan to do so. I would speak with them about an early delivery if possible though.

ha! some of my typing didn't come out right. I meant to say I was as big as I could get and the baby wasn't due yet so they feared the baby didn't have any room left and would have complications due to that.

I, too, am only 4'11". i barely weigh 100. My first baby was small but I was so huge they feared the baby would have no room to grow. When the baby was heavy enough to survive the doctors induced labor and go ahead and get the baby out. I ended up having to have a C-section but that's ok. All I cared about was the baby. These posts sound very helpful and I would definitely talk to the dr. maybe the baby is big enough and you can have it sooner. take care

Let me be the first to tell you your height has nothing to do with it. I am 5'11 and had that pain with both my kids and one was small 6.13 and my first was 8.03 and my second one killed me more. Even when I was on bedrest I was in tears most every day.

It sounds like the baby is on your sciatic nerve which is extremly painful! Sleep with a pillow in between your legs, and stay off of your feet as much as possible.

I was thinking aqua aerobics myself...if you can't afford a class then just look up some exercises online and perform them in your local pool! Good luck!!!

My chiropractor and the local pool saved my back during both pregnancies. Being afloat is soothing and takes some of the pressure off you back and muscles.

I feel you. I am 5'2" and have weighed about 100 lbs since high school. I am extremely petite so you would think I would have a small baby. My first daughter was 10 pounds. I was in sooooo much pain it was ridiculous. She kicked me in the back a lot and I would get on all fours, rock back and forth, stay still, rock again, stay still again. I would do this for about 5 minutes and she would usually move into another position. That helped a lot. But when it didn't, my husband would rub really hard on my back and she would move around. Hope you get feeling better!

Try getting like a rice sock or gel pad that you can warm in the microwave. I had a lot of back and thigh pain with my first daughter and those things helped a lot!

Get on all fours, it will take the pressure off your back and hips, and hopefully baby will find a different way to lay in there, if hes got more space while you are on all fours.

I love chiropractic care, especially when I'm pregnant. Talk to your doctor and see if you can't be put on part-time hours if work is too much for you right now.

So sorry. If you have a partner, maybe he/she can take over from here? Sounds like you have done your part.

Swimming? Find a warm pool - it helps to be in water

Meditation? When you are in pain, the muscles around the pain center tense and increase the pain you feel. If you can meditate, you can relax your muscles.

Visualize? See a healthy pain free birth

Milk it? Everyone around you needs to cater to your desires - agree with you, tell you how nice you look (many times a day) buy you gifts, watch the shows you want to watch .... bring you snacks

Sounds like he is sitting on your spine. That happened with my first too. I thought I would scream my back was in sheer agony all the time. There is unfortunately nothing you can really do to relieve that pain until the baby is born. I hate to have to tell you that. I wish there was a better answer.

All I've got is a 'You can do it!' cheer.... I know that doesn't really help though. Have you talked to the doctor about all the pain?

I, too, am only 4'11", so I certainly feel for you. You're almost done! :)
