I have very sore nipples, can anyone recommend anything? I am not breast feeding because he is not latching on so I am expressing my breast milk for him. On top of that I suffer from nipple eczema! Please help if you can. Thank you.

Use a nipple shield to help him latch and to protect your nipples. Expressing pulls on your nipples differently than baby and is harder on them. Also you can use ice packs and Lansinoh cream.

Hi... this may sound strange, but I breastfed three kids one for eighteen months, and the best thing to do is express a little milk and rub it into your nipples and let them dry in the sunshine... a discreet window works, the natural oils in your milk will condition them. Try and make sure you keep them dry while expressing, the moisture will cause them to chafe.... are you hand expressing or using a breast pump? Hot showers will help and since you aren't feeding directly you can use creams, just cleanse your nipples really good before you express. I hope this helps and if you want to ask I'll try to help, good luck!

Medela ointment works better than Lansinoh, I think anyway. Can you turn the pressure down on your pump? I found that for the first couple minutes if I have it pump on half pressure I can then turn it up to full for the rest of the pumping. And it is true that the best thing for your nipples is your own milk rubbed on, then let them air dry.

lansinoh ointment. Also, you might want to work with a lactation consultant.. both to work on the lactching but also to check about your pump.. it's possible there's either something wrong with your pump or it's the wrong size for you if it's causing you pain.
