Help with baby girl names?!

I just read someone's post re: the name Brileigh, and of course now I can't find it lol.

I just wanted to say my younger sister's name is Brianna Leigh she's 21, in High School, she started calling herself Brileigh now it's funny to see that the 2 names have been combined into 1 - and she did it on her own in trying to find her own identity. How many of us LOVE our names? I'm Amanda Marie, blah I've always hated my name & my daughter Paris Mackenzie is 5 & telling me she wants to change her name to something more trendy & common like Emma lol. In the case of Brileigh - read between the names, maybe you'll find something you love!

Hi Katie, of all of them I like Rayne (either pronounced as Rain or Rainy, both are cute). Also consider Corinne, Capri, or Sydney (Syd). Good luck.

My youngest daughter is named Kamryn Lee. I always loved the name Cameron for a girl, but wanted to give it a more feminine twist, so that's how I came up with the spelling Kamryn.

I have 3 daughters so i know how hard it tis to pick a nice girls name.

i have makayla belle, Amity Skye, n Summah Jade.

makayla was picked caus eit was unusual, Amity was a name we heard n though it was nice for a lilltle girl, she gets called Am or ammy for short, n Summah we r beach people so we wanted something to represent the beach n so we go Summah jade, but really wait til u look at ur baby when she is born then u will know wat the best name is for her.

i have 3 names picked for each of my girls n it wasn't til we saw our babies that we just knew wat we wanted to call them.

They are all very unique names, which is nice to have. We didn't know what we were having so we picked names for both. After my daughter was born, we looked at her and deceided that Sophie fit her. We had Peyton and Bella on our list but she didn't look like a Peyton or a Bella...She IS a Sophie. I say wait until you meet her and then pick...

I also had an uncle who told me to name my daughter River or Rivers....hmmm River Rayne? I like it but not my taste. I ended up naming my daughter Alyssa. I should have named her after my sister and called her Alyssa Lisette but emotions got the best of me and ended up naming her Alyssa Catherine. Like it but still wish I would have stuck with Alyssa Lisette. Lisette is a very pretty name as well. My sisters name is Lisette Elizabeth. Good luck, it's a difficult choice but whatever you do, don't let your hormones get in the way of what you really want to call her. And don't let anyone sway your decision. One of the reasons I did not name my daughter Alyssa Lisette is because one of my sisters said "you better hope she doesn't have a lisp" and that actually changed my mind because while pregnant, hormones really got to me and I took everything personally. Riley is my daughters name.

Before she was born i had decided that Riley would be the name i would choose if it was a boy or a girl. I love the way you have spelt Rhiley.. We called our son Finlay as it was my mother in laws maiden name, i have heard a few people calling girls Finlay.

I can sympathize with your naming situation. I love my daughter's name Laci (Lace - E) and it is not at all common in our area. The problem is that no one ever spells it correctly, but that does not bother us too much. As for her middle name we combined two names, my husbands middle name is Lee and my mother's middle name is Ann, so my daughter is Laci Leanne. As for your list I love Lexie as a short for Alexis and I am fond of Scarlett as well. Consider Arianna, Nicolette, Kiersten, Julianna, Makaylee or Tessa. Just some a little different. Keep a list of some that you like because once you see her beautiful little face you may know instantly what her name should be or perhaps the name you thought you wanted may not fit her.

We are living in Europe right now and my son attends an international school so I'm loving all the different names. My two favorite girl names right now are Jedidiah (her parents sometimes call her Jeddy for short) and my latest discovery is Merlyn. Ava, Alexis and Rhiley are very popular names right now so I would avoid those if you're looking for something unique.

My husband and I went to my parents house one day and he was looking at a panting on the wall and he was staring at it for a long time and I went over to him and asked him...what are you doing? He was looking at the signature at the bottom of it he said who painted this? I told him my mom why, he then looked at me funny, Who is Tova? That is mom's middle name, No that is my daughter's name he said to me and that is how we got Tova's name. My mom was so worried that she was going to get maid fun of her whole life but all the time people ask her where did you get your name from and she tells them my Nana!

Keep a long list, until the baby is born, you may change a dozen or more times! I have three girls... Tiffany Michelle, Kirsten Nicole, and Emily Anne! My first daughter I named after the name I wished I had... the others were the only names that did not get scratched off my list at some point. Just keep working on your list, listen to names you hear around you, scratch off names of those you know (that are not family), make variations of names of the ones you like, but are too close to someone you know... it is a long working process tofind your child's name, but usually you can't imagine anything else once you finally settle on the right name. I love all the names you chose, but only you are going to know which one is right. Think of all the nickname combinations, and check out your initials to see if it spells something... my second daughter I was about to name Kirsten Fiona, and then her initials would have been KFC... so scratched that! Isabela can also have the nickname Iz, which is cute... if Issy doesn't work for you. Best of luck and enjoy this process... stick your list in the baby book, my girls loved reading it as they got older!

I love the name Isabella - and Bella for a nickname is adorable!!! I wanted to name our last little girl that, but my hubby and I ende up with Elena (Ellie for short). For a middle name I would suggest trying to go with a shorter name (since the first name is longer). I like Isabella Grace. I love the two older names together - it sounds so pretty! :)

My favorite name for a girl is Shelby. My daughter is Shelby Lynn. It seemed to transcend well from childhood to young adult. She liked the uniqueness of it and was thrilled that she wasn't Jessica or a Jennifer. She became quite a gear-head in high school and modified her 97 Eclipse and took engine building as an elective class. She loved her nickname ShelbyGT referring to the Mustang. It was just a fun name to grow up with.

When I was lil I visited my grandparents often...they were polish and so we always referred to them by their polish names. Babci is grandmother and Dziadzi is grandfather. One day i heard the name Genevieve. It was the most beautiful name I think I have ever heard. from then on my favorite doll was always named Genevieve. Genia is the "nic name" and that is what my grandfather always called my grandmother. It was her name :)K it is now my only daughters name. I read a book once where the girls name was Linnet after the bird because it was her mums favourite poem but she went by Linny which I think is very very very cute and not a name ure likely to hear much of. I really like the name Felicity for a unique, elegant and pretty name. If you dont like the shortened Flick then I think Fliss is still really preaty but short enough to be used as a nickname. Felicity Fay was always a name I had picked for if i had a girl but sadly had two boys!! One of the ladies in my family is called Fiona which I think isn't a name u hear very often but still quite pretty. I also really like the names Isla, Imogen, Elizabeth (then shortened to any of ur preferred abrevs i.e. Lizzie, Eliza, Beth, Libby etc), Elena, Ivy, and Rosie. Awww...I really want a girl now!!

Uve already chosen some very lovely names though. Lilly and Isabella are both gorgeous names but very popular at the min, Ava's lovely and a lil bit more unheard of if u definately want the name to be unique. Peyton is quite unique too but can't really be shortened if ure into nicknaming a child. And Lexie is a really cool name for the playground. I also know a girl name Scarlett who happens to have dark ginger hair and that names so cute on a lil girl.

Hope u find one u like in the end....ull def know what to call her when she comes and u can suit the name to her face. Good Luck, x

I ultimately ended up naming my daughter Paris Mackenzie because I couldn't choose between my 2 fave names. I went through many trials, but once I said Paris Mackenzie out loud I knew that was her name... and I initially heard a random lady in a clothing store talking about her trip to Paris and it sounds so beautiful, I've always been partial to Isabella - she could be bella, belle, or izzy for short all super cute! Keep your eyes & ears open, you'll know exactly what her name is when you hear it!

Lilly Mae, Ava Nicole, or Ava Marie, ILyanna, Isabella is pretty or just name her Bella since thats what you will be calling her. Same for Lexie. Kyra is pretty. I, too, like Madison. Rose is my favorite. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

I totally agree with "not one she has to spell for everyone and repronounce to everyone" and "make sure that if you choose an unusuall name, that you at least SPELL it so that it can be easily pronounced correctly!" Mahdelyhn, Rhiley, Kaytee, Eesuhbellah and Rayne will never be spelled correctly... (And my favorite name to "love/hate" is pronounced fehm-ollie - which I think sounds quite pretty - but, unfortunately, her mom spelled it "Female").
