Does anyone know how to make the curls stay like the boy from high school musical? I have a 5 yr old son that doesn not want his hair braided but his curls dnt stay in tact neatly without alot of "gunk".... help please!! My son is half white/half black and has these beautiful tight curls that bounce back when pulled down.

His hair should only be washed once a week. But every other day a moisturize giving warm rinse with a conditioner such as coconut oil mixed with water will keep his head and hair moisturized. If the back of his neck has dry patches of skin or flakes at his nap or if reaches up to rub or scratches his head, it is signs of over dryness. He doesn't have black hair and he doesn't have white hair so you can't treat it as either one would. When it is wet use the biggest tooth comb you can find to gently detangle only. So if you are using the detangling spray from a bi racial baby product line you will have to just swipe through each area once and then let it be. The less you mess with it the more the curls will stay in tact. It is also very important to trim it at least every 3 months. Breakage to the ends do not stop, they continue up the hair shaft and cause the frizzy fly away or broken off hairs around the face that many bi racial kids have.
His hair doesn't need brushed and shouldn't be brushed. His scalp is soft and doesn't have a build up so no need to scrub it. Think of the motion you make with your fingers when you are going to squeeze something. That gentle motion is all you need to clean his scalp.
Also, water is actually very drying to his hair so once you shampoo and condition don't allow him to play in the water where his hair will continue to get wet. (it also will strip out the conditioner)
here is a great product you and your son will love. It also smells wonderful. I love the name too. Mixed Chicks :) Look at the last row of products for the children's stuff. It may sound pricy but you can go on line to find better prices. I just pulled up the first site I found.
