My son has had a diaper rash for the past couple of days. I've tried Sudocrem and also just letting his poor little bum air dry, but nothing is working. Any suggestions?

I learned that you cannot use diaper wipes with a diaper rash, you have to get them in the bath and rinse them off several times a day. Using a diaper rash lotion that contains zinc oxide like the blue A&D helps along with sprinkling corn starch on their bottom helps. Good Luck, I think diaper rash hurts moms just as much as their babies, it's almost unbearable to see your little one in so much pain!

i noticed my son got diaper rashes from pampers baby dry diapers, the netting inside seemed to irritate him, for some reason, good for me the cheaper diapers seemed to be better for him, also i used A&D ointment, it worked great, they have so many brands out there, desitin night time cream worked good too, put dont put too much on becasue it could also keep it too moist ad cause more irritation,

I suggest Triple Paste. It isn't cheap, but it is really worth the money. It is effective quickly AND you don't have to use a lot so it does last a while. In my experience, better than all the rest....

Aquaphor... a little bit goes a long way. It helps put a barrier between the skin and wetness so it can heal quicker. You can find it in the lotion section near the Eucerin.

My pediatrician suggested Flander's Buttocks Ointment, and it is AWESOME! Using this and warm washcloths instead of wipes has cleared my daughter's rash in a matter of two days. You have to ask for it at a pharmacy because they keep it behind the counter. I checked at Publix and Walmart first and both said they would have to order it, but Target had it for $7.99. Good luck!

WOW, I can't believe the response. Thanks everyone! I've been cleaning his bum with a warm washcloth and stopped using the wipes. I'm making sure his little bum is completely dry b/f putting on the cream and also giving him lots of time hanging out naked, but Cole's rash doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'll probably take him to the doctor's tomorrow, just to see what they say. It's been since Tues and still isn't getting better. Poor little fella!

My son struggles with diaper rash every wintersince birth (he's 2). At first we tried a bunch of different diaper rash creams and then we finally had to take him to the Doctor and found it wasn't actually diaper rash but a yeast infection and had to get a perscription cream that we put on for a couple days and then it clears right up. He gets the infection every year when the weather dries out for whatever reason but this cream is a miracle.

desitin and air dry. Desitin works over night. then keep butt paste on after every change. also make sure it isnt a yeast infection. Have them look on your next pediatric visit.

I use Arbonne's ABC diaper rash cream. It is natural and works wonders. I know from experience. One amazingly beautiful day we took our i year old outside to play. I noticed that she had a BM outside- it must have happened right away because her bottom was so sore- blistery and bleeding. I put on the Arbonne diaper rash cream and the next day she was barely pink. It's wonderful. After using the diaper rash cream and other ABC products I signed on as a consultant. I would love to help you and your baby out. Call or email me and i will send you a sample and more information about these wonderful products. (319) 483-1803 or pamcarolus@butler-bremer.com Good Luck !!

No doubt an anti - fungal cream like used for athelets foot. This is recommened by Dr.'s and works like a charm, it heals the rash and the bacteria that caused the rash and does not burn the baby - I promise.

We have been lucky that our 19-year-month son has had little issues with diaper rash. We have used Baby Vaseline (or the Target brand) after every changing since he was born. The few times we have had diaper rash issues was around teething time (cutting four molars at once is tough!) I hope this helps. One tub of it lasted me a year or so.

Hey there... I have 3 children, all with very sensitive skin. Five years ago, my newborn boy (about 10 days old) suddenly developed a bad diaper rash. I tried everything anyone suggested... and nothing made a difference. It was obviously painful for him. After 3 days, I visited the pediatrician, and surprisingly, he recommended Hydrocortisone Cream. It cleared up the problem almost immediately. Since then, I have learned.... use only UNscented wipes (as others have posted), use diapers that do not have colored material on the inside (all white next to baby's skin), and keep that Hydrocortisone Cream on hand... just in case! The Walmart brand is just a little over a dollar, and it goes a long way. I still use the other quality ointments and pure cornstarch for ordinary days, but if there's a bad breakout for some reason, my Hydrocortisone always clears it up quick. You'll be amazed! Try it!

Most diaper rash is fungal - your pediatrician can recommend a treatment which will include an antifungal ointment. Don't wait for it to get to the blistery stage. There are over the counter types, but may not be appropriate for a very young infant. As an RN I used Lotrium ointment (thin layer over the redden area). Eliminate vigorous baby wipes once the rash is cleared up. Mild Dove soap and water is much more gentle approach to delicate skin. Teething, new foods, diarrhea, etc can cause a rise in diaper rash. Change diaper frequently (of course) and once the bottom is cleared up, then apply protective barrier ointment if baby prone to repeat events of diaper rash.

Hi, I know just the thing that will help you with your son's diaper rash. I have a 11 month old and I use Mary Kay's Extra Emollient night cream, and it works great. I have tried other products but this is the BEST. If you would like to try it, let me know.

I would recommend you use a clean washcloth at each diaper change instead of baby wipes and Aquaphor is a great way to keep his skin protected....he may have sensitivity to the diapers, or the wipes, or to something he ate...so many ways to get a diaper rash!!

It may not be diaper rash - could be "jock itch" for babes. Sounds disgusting but it does happen and then you really need to move on it because it will get sore and nasty.

PENATIN MEDICATED CREAM is the only thing i use !!! i tried sudocream and it didnt work either. the only thing that works on my babe is the penatin cream but it HAS to be the medicated stuff. i'd look at your cream, if its not medicated, it will just be a "barrier" cream, which really only helps to Prevent diaper rash, NOT treat it. other than that, i have used corn starch, and it works REALLY well too, but you have to make sure you wash them SUPER good at diaper changes, as that stuff can actually cause an infection in itself. aside from that, dont use like scented wipes, or harsh baby washes, if the little ones' got sensitive skin, i knew a girl who wiped her boy after every wet diaper as well soiled ones, and it was too hard on his skin. she stopped wiping him unless he soiled himself, and she hasnt had a problem since!

My grandmother always used fried flour, i used it and it works when other stuff doesn't, it's also cheap and natural. Fry the flour on low in a pan, constantly stirring until lightly browned., then sprinkle it on when cooled. helps nuturalize the acids, and won't cause a yeast infection.

I use A & D ointment on my little girl. When she did have diaper rash, I actually used a hair dryer on it's coolest setting to make sure she was totally dry before putting the ointment on her. It cleared her up in a day or two, plus she thought it was hilarious.

my son has never had a rash, but friends use aquaphor mixed with maalox...works wonders!
also, if it's a yeast rash, regular diaper cream will not work!! you'll need a prescription, or you could try an anti-fungal cream (like for athlete's foot).

My youngest daughter has very sensitive skin. She would get a diaper rash so bad that she would scream in pain. This is what I experienced and has worked for her. DO NOT use regular baby wipes. Get the sensitive ones or use water to clean the area. My doctor informed me that diaper rash is a type of fungus. She recommended to get an antifungal cream. This is the type of cream you use for athlete's foot. The generic Walgreen brand-name is called Clotrimazole. A 2 oz tube costs around $10. I suppose you can use any brand name, just as long as it's an antifungal cream. My daughter is now 3 1/2 and I still use it on her when she gets a rash. It's sounds crazy, but it has been a miracle cream for me...and her.

I don't know if you have found a solution to your poor baby's problem, but I can sympathize with you and offer you a suggestion. My baby boy had sever diaper rash from his own urine. He would get sores so sever they would be open and bleeding. We began using Boudeaux Butt Paste every time we changed his diaper. We applied it thick so that it completely covered any sore spot. Within hours, his bottom would begin to clear up. Give it a try. Let me know how it goes!

Hi...my little Sophia has had a bad time with diaper rash....it was so bad at one point there were what seemed to be open sores. dr. told me it was definately from teething...which I believe...she has eight already. he gave me a prescription for nystacin because it wasn't clearing with over the counter creams. it develped yeast. That stuff worked immediately and now I make sure i keep her covered with protective ointment at all diaper changes....! So...if it persists with other treatment...have it looked at...it may be yeast and need something stronger to clear it up!
