mooo goo is great on myself.. although since my son is dairy intolerant it doesnt work on him.. all so on days where your not useing the steroud cream use paw paw ointment.. its fancatsic keeps the area moisturised for longer than other creams i have used.. dont ever use QV cream.. my son had a sevre reaction to it and it lef thim with burns on his body..

Pure coconut oil, I read a book on coconut cures and eczema was in there... I use it also so I can vouch for it..

keep the skin adequately moisturized because it is the most important aspect of treatment. Limiting baths to two to three a week helps to keep the skin moist, and using a very mild soap. Read helpful articles to keep you informed

I've always found that Chinese herbal remedies are very good, though they can be rather expensive. Otherwise, I can't really comment on creams and medications as, thankfully, my daughter doesn't seem to suffer with eczema anymore. However, she will get a rash if she wears tights and also I need to iron her underwear as washing powder/liquid gives can give her a rash too, whichever one I use. I'm presuming the heat of the iron kills off whatever it is that irritates her but I really don't know - all I know is that it works.

However, I am a firm believer in certain foods causing skin problems, IBS problems, etc. My children have quite a strict diet, mainly due to my youngest having a gluten intolerance, and now they very rarely have any problems, even colds. It's certainly worth looking into anyway. Good luck and I hope you do find something to help her soon as I imagine it's quite a horrid thing for her to be going through.

This is going to sound really weird....but it works. I have a friend with very severe eczema and she used honey. It needs to be honey that is made where you live....preferably homemade like from a co-op or farmers market. Just rub it on the affected areas at bedtime. It's sticky and weird....but I think you'll be amazed....and it's natural....no steroids.

we have had this problem lot in our familie....and we have lwys been able to combat it by cutting out dairy and or wheat from the diet....steroid cream is not god for child and u should only use it in extreme cercostances. unfortunatly drs dont take into account diet and this is the most important thing..epecially for skin problem as the skin is directly affected by your stomach health.....i dont how u feel about alternative medicine but if u find a homeopath in your local area its well worth the money to take your child along and discuss the issue..the homeopath should also be able to give u advice on diet.i have seen very extreme cases of eczema totally disapear when wheat and dairy has been removed from diet..i have lots of good recipes and tips for this type of diet if u r interested? wandarastar@hotmail.com

have you tried looking for food allergies. My niece is allergic to wheat. had bad eczema even before she had solids. doc said all due to a wheat allergy.

Hi, My 2yr old daughter and I have both had excema troubles, however since we have started taking fish oil it has really helped. There are different causes of excema, but the dryness is the underlying symptom that causes itchiness. Apparently our modern day diets are far too high in Omega6 fatty acids and too low in Omega 3 fatty acids, which produce the soothing anit-inflammatory fats and oils in our skin. So fish oil helps provide the moisturising from the inside. I just squeeze one adult capsule into my daughters juice each morning (1000mg) and I take 3 capsules myself each morning. We have both been fine for months now.
The other thing which helps is not to wash too often. Water itself will strip the natural oils from skin. You can easily stay hygienic by spot-cleaning without wetting the excema affected areas, and just do a full body bath once or twice a week. We always add Alpha-Keri oil to the bath water too.

I didn't have a history of food allergies either, so it was a huge surprise to me to find out that he had so many. I think many of them were from his dad's side of the family, or maybe even grandparents- most food allergies, I've been told are inherited some how from someone down the line.

my daughter and i both have this problem and hate steroidal use we take borage oil capsules daily and we use a hazelwood necklace that removes the acidity from our body it works well i am a nurse and was very reluctant to try herbal stuff but now swear by it .they are available at health food stores here in canada.....

My daughter, now 9, had eczema VERY bad since she was 5 years old. She would bleed & be scratching constantly. We had her on so much steroid cream & steroid medicine. They would get rid of it, but then straight back into getting bad again once she was off it. We also used countless home remedies & tubes of creams, etc, etc from health food shops & chemists. Now the ONLY thing that has worked for my daughter & I cannot believe the improvement....is Immunotherapy. She gets these allergy needles. Started off every week, then every fortnight, now every month. She is allergic to just about everything & the immunotherapy is getting her immune to all her allergies & she does not have 1 bit of eczema on her.

My oldest son has bad eczema, I am also looking for better ways to help him with this as the creams help a little, but not much. Hope you find something that helps :)

My daughter has eczema, but just a mild form. I use Aveeno baby soothing relief moisturize cream, along with the body wash. It helps so much! I would totally recommend at least trying it!!! Good luck, and I hope you find something that works!

cannot recommend 'moo goo' enough. my god it worked a miracle for my little one who used to bleed from scratching his eczema o much. is natural and designed originally for use by dairy farmers to use on cows udders (srange but true). they have eczema cream and 'udder' cream. the best thing EVER and I never had to resor to using steroids...yipppeee

I hope this helps you My daughter was a baby when we where told that she has eczema, I have used everything under the sun that the Dr.s have written for or told me to buy.. She is now 9 years old and Gastronolagist and he is doing some test because of what we have been told was eczema her whole life could be related to stomach,things she eats. In may they are going to take samples from her and test her for this Eosinopilic Esophagitis.. I hope this helps and they say it is treatable

Eucerin and Aquaphor lotions as many times as able during the day. Three times a day apply Hydrocortisone cream to all the red areas for 2-3 days. Also, if this still persists have your Doctor check her for Ringworm. My son had gotten Ringworm from a kid at school on top of his Eczema. any round patches with white in the middle could prove to be Ringworm. If you suspect this, use Over the Counter Lamisil or Lotrimen 2-3 times a day for 4-6 weeks. It's not that it is that severe, it is simply that Ringworm is that stubborn. Although Ringworm will eventually clear out on it's own. I hope this helps!

Vaseline is good, right after bathing. I had it when I was little, but I was like 7. The doctor prescribed some cream, it went away and did not come back until I was like 15! But, just use the same detergent, Tide is good. Clothing, food and weather are the usual elements for triggering it. The soap you use, stay consistent. Any change from one thing to another doesn't help. Only other thing is eczema can sometimes be mean. I say that because you can find something that works, and then the skin becomes immune to it and it doesn't work anymore. Then you have to start over from scratch. Good luck.

I've had it my entire life (40 years) and my daughter has a bad case too. What works for us may not work for you though. There are a ton of triggers. Too long baths for one. When bathing do not use any perfume soaps. We use Dove soap or Cetaphil liquid soap. We also use baby oil prior to drying off, then use Cetaphil lotion. Lotion is the key and you must apply it daily. Use everything free and clear, even washing clothes. We use ALL Free and Clear. Do not use fabric softener's in your wash. I only use free and clear dryer sheets.Wal-Mart sells a product called Eczema Medicated Moisturrizer and that is what I use and on my baby daughter. We stay clear from steriod treatments. Steriod's help but it will never solve the problem and over time, it thins your skin which you do not want to do for your child unless it is pussy and bleeding. Sugar and processed food plays a big part and I notice if we eat too much both of us become inflamed. It is really going to be trial and error until you can figure what is triggering it. For the mean time, lotion, lotion, lotion.

Vinegar will calm the itching and that's less scratching so that the skin can start to heal. My younger daughter also has severe eczema. She scratched out all her hair, her skin was like leather. I couldn't sleep at night because she would scratch so much and I stayed up trying to stop her. A friend of a friend with eczema suggested vinegar in the bath, and at that point I had already tried several prescriptions from the dr. I tried it and it worked. Its not a cure but my baby's scratching lessen dramatically. After a few days using vinegar I put a short sleeve shirt on my daughter for the first time. After I started using vinegar, we went to the dermatologist, and she prescribed Clobetasol, and it works great. It's an ointment that you apply twice daily, but her eczema has improved so much that I only use it once or twice a week. These two things have worked for me. I'm so happy. My baby girl has hair now and her skin is so so soft!!!!! I hope this helps.

My son had the same problem, he was covered from head to toe :( When bathing your daughter switch to QV body wash and don't keep her in the water too long...

Our doctor also recommended benadryl at bedtime. That helped the scratching at night. Our daughter started having it at 1 year old. She would scratch to the point of bleeding. We went through the steroid creams and all lotions. The best for her was aquaphor. She is now 8 years old and is finally starting to get over it. She still has dry skin but it's not too bad. The times I notice it the most is when she's nervous. She starts scratching when she's on stage for school performances and things like that where she has to be in front of a bunch of people. Good luck finding something that works for ya and keep strong...it will get better.

My daughter has had eczema since she was 6 months old. We went through her skin getting so red and inflamed to feeling like course sandpaper. We have tried vaseline, aquafor, steroid cream, cortizone, benadryl, oatmeal baths, etc. All cases are different. You have to try the right combination to find the right one. Right now she uses Avons moisture therapy and cortizone cream. Most important, use nothing that is scented. Good luck to you!

my son had one big sore bubbley patch on his inner arm and his body would flare up every couple of weeks from birth to 18 months. completly gone now. i only used very gentle baby soap on his hands, feet and bottom. no bubble bath but half a cup of crushed oats . very mild/ unpurfumed body cream after bath and in morn. cotten clothes next to his skin.
tee spoon of codliver oil and kids malti vitamin 2 or 3 times aweek from the age of 12months.

My son suffered from severe eczema when he was a baby. The one thing that really helped was getting him in to a good allergist. He was diagnosed with food allergies. Avoiding foods that he is allergic to (milk/eggs), and using gentle, dye and fragrance free soap for his bath and also dye/fragrance-free laudry soap and fabric softner has gone a long way in clearing his skin. We also were able to get some oral meds to help the itching so that his skin would get a chance to heal without him scratching at it.

my son is on a steroid cream as well. we use it once a day and it works pretty well (we only use it on his face and only a small amount). for his body and head vaseline works great. also, it might be something that he is eating that is making it worse. i know for my son oatmeal makes his eczema really bad.

My 6 month old son has had terrible eczema for 4 months. We were recently referred to a Dr. that practices traditional and natural medicine. He advised that we remove dairy from his diet. He also put our son on an herbal remedy called Bio Essence. (Chinese herbal medicine). We started him on it last Monday. By Friday, his skin was clear! After four months of trying everything and watching my baby scratch until he bleeds, I cannot believe the eczema is gone!! Our Dr. said he has seen Bio Essence work even the worst cases of infant eczema.

Our daughter has had eczema for 10 yrs. It's usually worse in the winter. Our doctor put her on steroid cream when she was 2. She was supposed to use it 1 wk then off 1 wk. It worked great but we didn't like the idea of using a steriod cream on our little girl so we quit using it. We tried various lotions and creams throughout the years. A few years ago we finally found something that worked - it's corticure cream from Beauticontrol. About $16 per bottle but it's worth it.

My oldest daughter has it really bad too. It sounds really weird and at first I was not going to use it but I am glad I did. If you look up pure romance( which I know is not for kids lol) There is a product called body dew and I used it on her because another mom had told me about it. It worked great on her skin and is much safer than the steroid cream. May not work on everyone but I figure it is work a shot because it is so less harmful than perscriptions.

My son had severe eczema too, and of course the doctors prescribed a lot of different things. However, what I found worked was a combination of a steroid cream (nystatin) and elidel (a name brand rx cream). I would alternate using the two, as directed, because (in my opinion) your skin tends to get used medications and then they do not work anymore. You can keep that from happenening by alternating. I also used Aveeno oatmeal body wash. After months and months of all of this, he was finally showing no signs of the eczema! I know eczema never goes away, but you would never no he had it now!

Hey, don't bath baby with any soap, bath her with plain non-fragranced Aqueous cream, just KEEP moisturing, ensure she wears cotton only, watch what you wash her clothing with. There is a cream (Elocom) that I was prescribed for my daughter and it WORKS! You may mix this with Aqueous Cream and apply on the inflamed areas.-use it 3-4 times a week. Best of Luck!!

i have extremely sensitive skin & it doesn't take much for me to have an eczema breakout. I use ivory snow laundry detergent, goat milk soap & during a breakout i apply sesame oil and/or glaxal base cream to the affected areas. i've recently discovered i have wheat & dairy allergies and since i've stopped eating those i've had almost no problems with my skin.

Cut out all frgrance and dyes in the soaps you use on her and her laundry. White dove bar soap works wonderful. There is children shampoo that is dye and frgrance free. There is also many brands of laundry detergent that is dye and fragrance free. Go hang in the lotion isle and find a good lotion that is dye and fragrance free made for eczema. Bath time every other night, lotion before bed every night and steriod as prescribed. Both of kids go through this and fall and winter is the worse. I do use the dove soap to wash my face with-works great!

I would suggest getting her allergy tested. My son had severe eczema, that we later found out he was highly allergic to some of the foods that I was eating (I was breastfeeding). We used to rub olive oil and cetifil (dermatologist suggestion) on him.. also washed him with cetifil cleanser. After having the allergy test and watching what I and later on, he, ate- he very rarely has eczema anymore.
