dangerous game we play...
Personally I believe our bodies are made to heal themselves... it's intervention our body does NOT need. When our lifestyle or surroundings inadvertently interfere with our system, that's the time to consider intervention.

Quoting Patti:

And I am going on the other side of the subject here. :)

I have talked to health care professionals and I have done a little research and you bet I am getting my kids to get their H1N1 vaccine absolutely. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. But I also absolutely suggest that the parents out there get it too. It is devistating and can kill perfectly healthy adults and children. Anyone who did not experience the pandemic of the 1970s of this seem to be at greater risk than those of us who did.

Besides, I just don't think anyone wants to see their children suffer if they can prevent it in some way. It seems there are others who believe as the previous poster, and I don't mean to anger anyone here. Just seeing things from my perspective, which isn't always right, but mine nonetheless. :)

If you are speaking of the last swine flu "epidemic," that vaccine itself did way more damage than the virus contracted naturally.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I work in the medical field and the doctors I work for don't even think the H1N1 vaccine is safe! Im not giving it to my daughter! She will only get the seasonal flu shot because she has asthma

Please go to www.insideedition.com or even www.youtube.com and look up the story about the 25 yr old NFL cheerleader who got the flu shot on Aug 23, 2009 and 10 days later she was crippled with a nervous disorder caused by the flu shot. I would not encourage anyone to get the flu let alone give it to their children. Mothers were given intuition for a reason and I see that yours is working great, listen to it.

Good Luck,

Don't do it. The flu vaccination is not effective in any way, and it can ultimately be harmful. It is all a big lie. I know many people would be appalled by this statement, but I have done a lot of research and from what I've learned, as well as from personal experience, I feel confident in my statements. Our society is riddled with unnecessary applications of drugs and vaccines, and we are beginning to experience the negative repercussions of that. The less you allow your body to be exposed to viruses and bacteria, the less ability it will have to fight them. Support your immune system by eating properly and taking vitamin supplements during the more dangerous seasons, and, if you can afford it, go and see a homeopath. They have protocols for natural ways of fighting the flu, and they work.

There is no way I would give my daughter the Swine Flu vaccine. I will never give her regular flu vaccine either.

Hi Natalie! We will not be getting the vaccines for either this year. I realize that it has to be a personal decision, but that's what we've decided for our family. My son got flu like symptoms after having the seasonal flu shot last year, and I think that was just as bad as him getting the "actual" flu. I intend to watch my kids closely and will force them to rest if they start to show symptoms. I think that's part of why this type of flu is so dangerous to "healthy" people. Our lives are so hectic that we push ourselves to the breaking point, and by then it's too late. You have to start treating they symptoms and rest as soon as they symptoms start to keep your system from breaking down to the point that it can't fight off the sickness. Just my two cents worth.

I don't know about the USA, but in Australia, they wont give the Swine Flu vaccine to kids under 10. Read what you like into that....

Hi Moms, I am an old granny now but I always got my kids immunized and they are in their 40's now and healthy. If you have a pediatrician for your child ask her opinion, but, if I had little kids I would definitely get them the swine flu vaccine. People my age aren't likely to get it because we had something like it in the 70's. Kids, little, and school age, and people in their 20's or 30's are more likely to get it. The odds of the vaccine having a bad effect are much, much smaller than the odds of your child getting the H1N1 FLU AND possibly dying. I've been a science teacher too so I hope you'll consider this seriously. If we are going to protect our children we have to be strong in times like this. Hope all goes well.

I am only getting the seasonal vaccines for my kids and only because they both have asthma. When they get the flu, it can be very serious. There are just too many unknowns about the Swine Flu vaccine to risk it IMHO.

I am getting it for my son. I can not afford him to get the flu or even the H1N1.

There are a lot of forums about this, so I am sure you will get the same answers from those. Don't be surprised if it gets a little ugly on here, I have seen some that have.

Yes I am getting it for myself and my son. I have done a lot of research on it and feel it is in the best interest for my family. H1N1 mostly kills children and young adults unlike the normal flu which mostly kills the geriatric community. It is very much recommended for preemies and children/adults with certain medical problems.

I suggest you do a lot of research for both sides on this.

Good luck! :)

definitely not! it's too new, and side affects aren't well documented, and those that i HAVE heard of are horrifying. I dont dare take that risk with my children.

No. I will not be getting my son vaccinated for seasonal or h1n1. As a family we are really being conscious of healthy habits. Eating well (fruits, veggies, whole foods, eliminating as much processed foods as possible), getting enough sleep, vitamins and a few other natural supplements, etc. is our arsenal for 'cold' season. There are a couple of other threads going with some helpful information. Do your research and make your own decision. If you do decide to get it, try to find a place that gives the mercury free flu vaccines. They are available, just not as many as the mercury containing ones. I hope you find peace with your choice.

I was scared to let them get it. They came up with it too quickly. Who did they test it on? How do they know what the long-term effects might be? Too many questions for me to be letting my babies serve as guinea pigs.

I personally will not give my child the vaccination. If it is like the "flu shot" they are actually giving you the virus. Now don't quote me because I have not done my research. But I have never had a flu shot in my life and I usually do not get sick. But last year I decided to get the shot for precaution and sure enough within a month I got the flu and was sick for over a week. So now I personally will never get the shot again and allow my child to have a shot to prevent the flu or swine flu. Hope that helps.

Hi Natalie, I'm so confused to what to do about getting the swine flu vaccine for my kids and myself. This is something I just have to keep praying about and allow the Lord to lead me in the right direction. I hope whatever choice we make, It's the right one, Because it's hard with everything going on in the news

there have been a couple of earlier posts about this w/ lots of replies. if you scroll through those, you'll probably find more opinions than you know what to do with! lol :-)

personally, my daughter and i are not getting any of the flu shots (h1n1 or seasonal). akron children's hospital says that symptoms of h1n1 or seasonal flu (dry cough, high fever, body aches, chills) can be treated at home w/ over the counter medication. they recommend medical attention if fast breathing or other breathing difficulties occur.
