How many of you mums hold their breast while feeding baby? I hold my sonny with one hand and hold the breast with the other because I have quite large breasts (f cup) and feel it may be too heavy for him. But sometimes i get tired and my arm rests too heavy and also it means his tummy is not as close to me as I would like.
So what do you guys do? and can I STOP holding my breast while feeding lol...........

I'm also well-endowed. I found with my son (he's 3 now), it was easiest to feed football on the right side, holding his head with my right hand and supporting my breast with my left. On the left side I really liked cross-cradle supporting him with my right arm and my breast with the left. We fed this way until he was about 6 months old, then he switched over to classic cradle hold on both sides, I didn't need to support my breast by that time. When he was about 10 months old he switched his preference again and wanted to be fed side-lying (not always convenient). When I had my daughter, right from birth she did best in a classic cradle hold on both sides, and breast support with the opposite side (feeding right breast, supported breast with the left hand). We fed this way the entire time I nursed her (for 15 months). I think you need to do what is comfortable for you and your baby and remember that even as your nursing relationship develops that change may be needed. Good luck with your continued nursing success!

I do classic cradle, too. He was about 6 months, maybe a little older when I got free use of one hand.

hehe glad to hear it's not just me! When I went to breastfeeding support the ladyshowed me how to feed him without holding my breast, but I felt like the weight was making it slip out of his mouth so it started hurting as the feed went on.I like my holding method better lol.Kate and Julianne, how old were your babies when they could hold it? my son does touch and play around but can't hold it (he's 3months). Also I always use the classic cradle hold

I had to hold it until gabby was old enough to hold it herself. I am an f cup as well...all that boob would smother the poor tot if you didnt!

I have to do it, too when my son is sleeping. He's old enough now (almost a year) that he can push the extra boobage away from his face so he won't smother. But if he's half asleep I have to do it for him. :P
