How can I make my baby sleep in his crib?

i putmy baby in there at a set time for night time and and cryed untill she went to sleep and now she knows what her bedtime is and she dosent cry when i put her in there anymore she goes straight to sleep. i felt bad the first time i did it but it really worked

Definately not to young to let him cry. My son was 10 months old before I decied to do control crying, and it works. It is hard to hear them crying but after a couple of nights they realise that you don't play there games anymore and they will give up. You just have to decide on a night to start and stick with it. Wait until he is really crying and let him know that you are there. I use to sit near the cot, no eye contact or talking. Then ech night I would go a little further away from the cot until eventually I was sitting at the door. Each night got less and less time I was sittng there. Even if he woke during the night I would do the same. It does work, like I sadi you have to be consistent and repetative. He knows now that you will cave in and just do what he wants. Just remember that so long as they aren't hurting themselves or in any danger he will be ok. He won't love you any less for doing this and you will enjoy him more because you will get your sleep too. i recomend u to read the book BABY 411. i teach my son to sleep in the crib and fall asleep in the crib by himself by this book. i looove it. they have also toddler 411 which i wanna buy also

Hello, my dr recommended not to run right to my baby right away at about 4 weeks old. She said to let her cry for a bit. Then she'll learn that mommy and daddy aren't gonna run to her just b/c she cries. It's EXTREMELY hard to do it but it's soooo worth it. My baby is almost 6 months old and soothes herself right back to sleep... even sleeping from 730pm-8am if I don't grab her when she wakes up earlier (I hear her playing and talks herself back to sleep) It makes life sooo much easier!

The way I did it with my daughter is I sat in her room on the floor. When she started to cry I just go "shhh" an then when I knew she was sleeping I'd queitly leave. Every night I'd move further away from her crib until I didn't have to stay in her room anymore

I went thru the same thing. My pediatrician told me to put a phone book under his mattress at the end where his head lays. It props them up so they feel like they are on your chest. I didn't think it would work but he slept with it in his crib from the time he was 3months until he was 2yrs. I tried to take it out a few time but he started to wake up in the night as soon as I put it back he started to sleep thru the night again. Good luck!

As long as you know he's not hurting or in need of any specific care (diaper change, bottle, etc) he won't come to any harm crying. However, when my boys were babies, they woke up in the middle of the night every night until the doctor told me that they were hungry and to lace their bottle with cereal. I know doctors tend to frown on it these days, but some kids just have big appetites and mine did. As soon as I got with the cereal, they stopped crying and stayed asleep. A hungry baby can't sleep regardless where he is... An added benefit was that they liked food and became really good eaters. I was able to spoon feed them earlier than most. (They just wanted the food, didn't care how I gave it. LOL) Make sure your baby has no allergies before you try it, though!

You could try to stick a shirt or blanket that you have used in his crib... it might make him think you are near by if he smells your scent. Good Luck!!!!

My daughter would sleep in her crib then at early morning feeding she would feed and fall back to sleep in my bed. However it went from that early morning feed to every feeding that she wanted to be in my bed. I started to place her in her crib after feeding when she was not fully asleep, therefore she had to fall asleep alone. When she then wake up after two or so hours I went through everythign trying to find out what was wrong, it was nothing. Id just place my hand near her or on her back so she knew i was there and she eventually drift back to sleep. This continued for almost two weeks but the time I stood by her crib eventually decreased and now when she wakes I hear her but she is right back to sleep with her blankie! Try to establish a comfort toy it really aids in getting them back to sleep alone when they wake.

My daughter stayed in her co-sleeper until she was three months old and we moved her to her crib with a sleep positioner. She cried a bit but having her own space (she also sleeps in her own room) has been good for her. There is a book called the "No-Cry Sleep Solution". Good luck.

I didnt want my son to get used to slepping in our bed so when he was about 3 months i put him in his crib and it took acouple nights of letting him cry but it worked..

i know how it feels, my 7 week old daughter is like that in her moses basket which makes her want to feed herself back to sleep all the time! he is not too young to cry himself to sleep, if you have a good routine, make sure he is tired, give him a good feed so you know he isnt hungry, make sure he has a clean bum, and that he doesnt have any wind, and if you know these things r fine then let him cry and only go to him in 10-15 mins to make sure he is ok, or if he gets too worked up, then go to him for a cuddle to calm him down and put him back down again when he is all fine even if he is awake cos he has to learn to sleep alone. it may take a week or two for him to get used to it but he will learn eventually :) x
