I need to get this baby out! I am due in less than 4 days now but feel terrible! My pelvis hurts, i have near constant heartburn and cant sleep properly. i was actually sick this afternoon!

Tried a curry this week but as i have the start of a stomach ulcer i couldnt have one that was that hot and it made me feel sick. I've been told about using clary sage essential oil and am using it in a burner just now and my hubby is on a promise for tonight ;)

Any other tips are welcome

Seriously, I know itr's a pain - been there, done that! - but you're making a mistake if you try to induce yourself when it's not medically necessary. Babies come when they're ready.

You can try everything under the sun but the fact is this: unless your body is ready to go into labor NOTHING will work (not even pitocin and artificial rupturing of the membranes).

So, give pineapple juice a try, sex, pressure points...but try to be patient. DO NOT DO CASTOR OIL. It'll dehydrate you and there is a possible link between using it and the baby passing meconium in the amniotic fluid.

Having sex REALLY helps get it going. Only 4 hours afterwords my water broke. I had been in early labor for 2 days at the time. I also have some friends that swear by that as well, but I don't have the details about how long it went from sex to water-breaking.

Ok, I tried EVERYTHING with my kids and one thing worked perfectly both times. Give up. That's what worked. The minute I sat down, relaxed, and told myself the kid was going to be in there for another week, I went into labor. Try putting in a movie series you really want to see ALL of. Or start a project you really want to finish. That should do the trick,

awe hon! i was there with both my kids. just call your Dr tell him your ready now and set up to be induced, there is no reason for you to suffer. its not worth it when the Dr can do something about it. and be grumpy all you want, you have more than earned your right to be grumpy!

Hi Jacquie. I have three grown children and am a grandma now. I have three sons. What I did for my second son was go bowling the night he was due. However, after saying this it was an activity I did weekly so my body was used to it, even as big as I was. I don't know if it would be good for you if it isn't an activity you often do!!! Personally I am a nurse and I know deep down that the baby comes when it is ready!!! I am sure many women have tried different things to try and bring that labour on!!! Maybe some of them work but what really starts labour is a drop in your hormones which nothing you can do will cause this to happen. All the best to you though, and hope you have a short and smooth delivery. Sincerely, Roberta

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but the only thing that induces labor is pitocin (oxytocin hormone used by doctors to induce labor) . Walking will give you stronger legs, sex will give you a little fun before baby comes (if you're not too sore to enjoy it!), castor oil will only give you a stomachache. I believe everyone who says "I did this and a few hours later I went into labor" would've gone into labor that same day even if they were laying in bed all day! I was one of the few unfortunate women who is not capable of going into labor by myself (I tried with all three kids with no avail) We almost lost my first because I went three weeks over because the doctor wanted to wait for it to start naturally (that is a whole other can of worms!) I did everything old wives tales tells you to do and more and nothing worked. If you are that miserable you can't survive another week, let your doctor know and beg for an induction. It didn't work for me, but it's worth a try, and remember that in a couple of months you won't even remember the last few days or weeks of pregnancy. Hang in there and take it easy. Labor vibes to you!

Ask the doctor if he can induce labor? That's what happened to me 40 yrs ago. I was fully dilated but for some reason the baby would not move into birthing position. but u have to be dilated so many sonometers I think before they induce.

Blue Cohosh seems to work but you might want to check with the midwife or whoever. Some have reservations about it.

Just relax and try to have an orgasm in your favorite way. It worked for me, and my third son was born on his due date. I don't think that I'd want to try to start labor much before the before the baby was due. Good luck!

The doc told me sex. He actually thinned my cervix and expected to see us back a few hours later. Told me to go eat a good lunch and he'd see me soon. We ate a huge meal then walked about 6 miles that afternoon - broken down into 3 walks - and also bounced on an ab ball and did squats. Nothing worked. I def recommend trying lots of sex. It'll be your last time for atleast 6 weeks so enjoy it! Good luck!

I tried lots - pineapple juice, sex, raspberry tea and the list goes on...... however nothing worked. I think when bub is ready, they will come. Start doing a thorough clean, start a project, focus on other things - as you relax your body will do what it needs to do. Soooooo hard I know when all you want to do is have the baby! It will be soon enough.

What I did was walk a lot and squat a lot. This will put pressure on your uterus. Then again there is always Sex! :)

If you have access to a qualified acupunturist/herbalist they can definitely push you along. Downside is some scary looking needles and you have to drink the MOST foul, alkaline mud stuff. It did however cause me to start labor 2 entire weeks early so it surely could help you.

Accupuncture! I was hesitant but I didn't want to be medically induced. I went to see an accupuncturist twice. The first time was too early but I was facing a medical induction so decided to try. My induction was delayed until the week of my due date. The second time I went (which he didn't charge me for since the first time didn't work) I was in labor before leaving the office. I went with an accupuncturist known by all of the local midwives. I'm completely afraid of needles and was a bit anxious about this experience. The needles were tiny and didn't hurt. There were several pressure points including the ankles mentioned earlier. I would definitely do it again. Good luck to you!

Still waiting on baby. 2 days over now and quite sore. Had sex including orgasms but that didnt do much. I have a 2 year old and no car so i do a lot of walking! Been having raspberry leaf tea but it is more for toning the uterus rather than starting labour. Been doing plenty of housework too - cant avoid it as there is no one else to do it (hubby cant be trusted with some things). Baby is just going to leave me waiting and come when it feels like and i am going to be stuck at home with 2 young kids and no help as my hubby will have used up all his paternity leave.

Yup thats right today i am grumpy and completely done with being pregnant - never again! Cant wait to have my baby here and i know they are precious but im just fed up!

You know, my midwife told me about natural pills called caulliphyllum.. and the way it works is that it would speed things things up if there is any contractions..and it works best if you are so close to your due date when your body is so ready for labor.. Just be patient, and last days are the hardest I know..but stressing and worrying about it could actually slow things down..good luck

Sex worked for us.... Contractions started right after and didn't stop. Less than 24 hours later our 2nd son was born (thank goodness!! 8 lbs 7 oz and two weeks early - glad he was early, I'm a small person!) Semen, as you may know, help release hormones that CAN start contractions or something like that. It's been 2 years..... Not up-to-date anymore!

The best way to induce labor is to have sex, especially with lots of foreplay and nipple stimulation. This works the best, however keep in mind that the baby will not come out till it is absolutely ready. To ease some of the discomfort, sit in the bathtub with the shower on with warm water washing over you, it is very comforting.

Just be patient. Get off the couch and get active. That will help with the heartburn and stomach upset. Baby will come when she/he is ready. The less stressed you are the easier labor will be.

Just be patient. Trust me I felt the same way you do now 4 months ago when I delivered my baby boy! I became impatient and tried some techniques such as nipple stimulation. It worked but baby boy came to quickly therefore causing him to have respiratory problems. He was fine after 6 hours spent in nicu. I urge to just let labor come on its own!! If my baby had died because of me being impatient, I would never have forgiven myself!

[deleted account]

Castor Oil works as an intestinal stimulant which moves your bowels. You will poo. The baby will poo too if you take enough. The baby will then be at risk of meconium aspiration.

Congratulations to you Jacquie on your blessing!

http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/nati... has tips for women with a ripe cervix and post due dates. You need to realize and accept responsibility for anything you do to hasten the labor. Your baby will be born when he/she is ready. New studies show that the baby's body triggers labor..not the mom's body. That should tell you something. The baby triggers labor when he/she is fully ready. I encourage you to endure a little longer.

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing you can do other than being induced at a hospital! Your baby will come when he/she is good and ready! All of the suggestions are just myths and if they did work for some one it was simply coincidence and the baby was going to come at that time anyway! Just take it easy and try to be patient!

You sound very stressed and desperate. Please know that your baby will come when it's ready and no time before. It's key to try your very best to stay calm and patient. I know this sounds weird, but talk to your baby and in a relaxing way tell it your ready. I had a 12 pounder and I was 1 week passed my projected due date before she came out. I was stresses and desperate to get her out and tried a lot of things to get things going, but labor didn't start until I gave up trying and just accepted the fact that it was on her terms and not mine. Good luck to you and congrats!!

A few ideas for you to try!! Castor oil... Eww I know but it can help get those contractions going!! Also SEX!! And lots of it! Orgasms cause you to contract and also he helps to soften your cervix! Or lay on your left side with your feet on lots of pillows so your feet are above your heart. IDK why it works but a doctor told me to try it and I did for 2 days off and on and finally went into labor!! Come to find out my baby was 2 weeks late!! Boy was I mad!! But good luck and may you have a speedy delivery!

Hi There.
What I was adviced through my O.B.G.Y.N was to go eat spicey food's or to have inter-course and that should take care of it. If you don't want to do either one. Go have a nice 1hr massage. I am a Massage Therapist. Good Luck

I walked twice a day for a week but the day my water finally broke it was within an hour of my husband giving me the biggest "O" ever then went for a walk. I came back from the walk and 5 minutes later my water broke. Having an "O" causes your uterus to contract so the bigger the better! Good luck and have fun trying ;)
