How can I travel abroad without permission from deadbeat dad?

I was granted full custody, but in the court orders it specifically states, pursuant to federal law neither parent can travel out of the country without notarized consent from other parent. I am hoping to take my son on a Disney Cruise, but the noncustodial dad (who voluntarily hasn't seen him in YEARS!!!) won't sign the form for the passport or give consent to travelling out of the country. What alternatives/options do I have? What's the consequence if I just take him anyway?? My son is 13 and we don't have a passport yet.

I know that here in Australia, there is a special consent form in the Family Court that can be filed for approval by the courts in these sort of onstances. So basically, if the other parent won't agree, the judge can give you permission. I don't know if you have similar avenues over there. i would suggest asking a lawyer. It probably isn't somthing you will need a lawyer to DO for you, but just to ask the question on how you should go about it. It depends where you live.
