How do I get my children to quit talking so loud? I feel like all day long I am asking them to talk quietly.(there has been tested and both are fine)

I just told my son that my ears can not hear loud and yelling voices - then he remembers to talk in a less loud voice - but he does need constant reminders during the day.

tell them to use their inside voice and explain that we can be loud when we are outside but when we are inside we have to use a lower voice

kids are always loud, but I just always tell them that there is times when they can be loud and that is when they are outside. I am always constantly reminding them and it is hard because my husband works third shift.

So he uses a fan in the room to drown them out, but kids are kids and sometimes you have to keep reminding them.

My son has two volumes loud and louder. It's getting to the point where I have to tell him to quiten down or the Tv goes off. I've also noticed for quite some time now that he looks like he's chewing gum or something when he ain't and gets really hyper. I really don't want to read into too much. Is anyone else's children have same.

I agree, set the example - never raise your own voice to get through to them - even though it can be hard sometimes :-)

i agree, they learn by example, if they start to get lound inside, i tell them inside voices please. and when they are playing out side, as long as they aren't screaming bloody murder, its good for them to be loud outside, get all the energy out!! kids need constant reminders of things, manners, voices, everything!

Ditto Dorene. I remind my toddler that it's okay to squeal but it must be an "inside squeal" and provide a quiet example by whispering.

And when we're outside I might say something loudly and give him permission to "outside squeal" too. The whispering (or at least giving an example by speaking very quietly yourself) really does seem to work.

I think it is just a kid thing. I tell the girls constantly to talk quieter with only a temporary reprieve.

But I agree that sometimes they should be allowed to be loud  apparently it is their nature and I beleive that they should not always be kept dow.

whisper.

Seriously, they have to get quiet to hear you talking.  It immediately de-escalates a verbal situation.  Say what you would normally say with a few hand gestures maybe that one should sit here the other there, and make sure to have a serious look on your face.

It works with adults too
