I've tried everything it seems...they are changed every 2 to 3 hours, we use butt cream on them, and we use pampers...any other ideas on how to clear up their little red bums?

My daycare gal loves bottom butter, butte paste, or plain old vaseline.

Cornstarch. But if it doesnt work, they may be allergic to disposable diapers

Sounds like your wee one has very sensitive skin! We had the same issue with my Grand Daughter. First we changed diaper brands, I know Pampers are the most well known but sometimes little ones react to things we don't expect. Next, after bath time, a little air, and, believe it or not a little Malox on the bum, frequent changes and repeated applications of the Malox (yes, of course store brand is OK). Diaper rash is caused by acid that creates heartburn.

actually... I noticed with my daughter that pampers would break her out so badly. We stopped using pampers and switched to huggies which became very expensive but i found that babys r us store brand was very good. Pretty much anything but pampers was ok. Also - this could be a yeast infection, not diaper rash so have your doctor look at it. If your baby is on antibiotics, this can worsen a diaper rash or yeast infection. Lastly, if your baby has had a new food or juice this can cause an allergic reaction that inflames or worsens a diaper rash.

My little one can't wear pampers diapers, or huggies supreme. She is instantly red after wearing them. Try a different brand. I've found that my girl can only wear sensitive chlorine free diapers (seventh generation, huggies organic, earths best, baby nature care are a few that work for her).

Air drying helps.....if your daughter's bum is still moderately wet from the baby wipes it can cause irritation. She could also be sensitive to the wipes or diapers. I had to change from Pampers to Huggies because something in them caused a reaction with my little one. If those things don't work, probably should talk to the pediatrician it could be a mild infection.

Calmoseptine works great. Also try letting them be in the nude the air there seems to help also try a dif diaper I always used pampers but every child is diffrent. I really think that being nude helps a lot always did with my kids. also talk to your childrens dr. about allergys.

it may be a yeast infection, in which case no amount of any type of diaper ointment will work. LotriminAD (yes the stuff for athletes foot) applied very lightly. too much will burn the skin. this was from my doctor when i had little girls. clears it right up.

Holy Cow! Do I know your pain. I even took my little one to the Dr.s' office over this alone. His advice to me was.... make sure before applying anything to my baby's butt to make sure he was dry. When we were home, I used a hair dryer on the cool setting . In a public bathroom I used the hand dryer. Well, low and behold it worked. It took 3 days and the difference was remarkable. In a week it was almost gone. Try it! Good luck!

Girl, Caldesene Powder!!!! Pink bottle, use to be behind the counter when I worked in the CVS pharmacy. It is a GODSEND!! I've used it on 4 of my 6 kids and I would buy stock in that stuff if I could. My little girl is 5 and I still use it on her if she gets irritated. And its not expensive either. Good luck sweety. :)

My son was the same way, he was very sensitive. The only thing that worked is Bordreaux's butt paste. It's not thick but it worked. He eventually got over it ( he still get red easily with certain fruits and juices but now I can use the desitin overnight relief and it works (now!)

I found Bag Balm the best at getting rid of diaper rash. (smells gross, but works every time). If the diaper rash is pimpley,it may be a yeast infection.

Sometimes the Zinc in butt cream or other creams can be more aggrevating to a rash, I also find that the wipes are irritating to rashes, it's better to use a face cloth with water until it clears.

Hope this helps..

Have you tried changing brands of diapers? I have 3 teenage sons but each one of them had to wear a different brand of diapers bc they were allergic to some of them and I have a 1 yr old granddaughter and she can't wear Pampers. Also you may try a baking soda bath then airring out. Hope all goes well.

when my daughter had a really bad diaper rash a few weeks ago the dr told us to make sure that you dry the butt really good and let her out of the diaper if we could that way it could get air. i'll lay her on a blanket and after her butt is clean i'll rub/pat her butt dry with the blanket then put destin on and cover her butt (since she is 7 months old and just wants to crawl everywhere) within a day i noticed that her butt was starting to get better and now it is cleared up and we don't have to use destin with every diaper change. the less moisture in the diaper is better because the moisture is what causes the diaper rash (that is what i was told). also just letting her sit and play in a warm bath (i give her a baby every other night) that covers the infected area also helped. hope this helps you.

I don't know if you've had this suggestion yet or not, but just simply put some flour in a fry pan and cook it until it's brown (almost burnt), let it cool and just put it on like diaper powder. I don;t know how or why it works but I have used it on all of my kids!

Hi there! My second daughter used to get rashes all the time and it would take weeks to clear up. I took her to the doctor and they told me that it was probably a yeast infection not a diaper rash. They told me to use athlete's foot cream...and it worked great! So, now if I can't get the diaper rash cleared up with a couple applications of diaper rash cream, I use the athlete's foot cream and it starts clearing up instantly! Hope this helps!

you may need to go to the doctor to get a prescription it sounds like it may be a yeast infection from diapers.

Try 'Boudreax's Butt Paste' and you may want to try switching diaper brands. Mine always had problems with pampers.

Sometimes babies get a fungal yeast sort of infection on their bums - if A and D is making it worse, this would be my best guess. You can use the yeast meds from the store or if you're worried about that, you can ask your doc if this might be what it is and get a prescription. My babie's pediatrician said to just use the store-bought to save money and it worked like a charm. The body produces yeasts naturally and they are usually kept in check and don't become an issue by good bacteria but my daughter for instance was on an antibiotic that killed those off and the yeast got out of control.

Hey Danielle!! I had to respond... I swear by Aveeno for babies bath soak. Its all natural it's got oatmeal in it and you just add it to their bath water. Anytime my daughter has diaper rash or if her eczema flairs up I soak her and within 1-2 soaks it clears up!! You'll love it. I always have a box stashed in the bathroom!!

My son was alergic to Pampers. Have you tried a different brand of diaper? Also, let them go diaper free for a while. Just lay them on a towel and let their little bums get some air.

Triple cream or bactroban.. It's prescription but they both worked wonders on my childrens bottoms.. Plus another good thing is blowing drying there but and then putting on the creams or milk of Magnesia take the acid out... Hope it helps

Quite possibly it is something they are eating or drinking that their skin is sensitive to. I had to give mine water or milk only until they cleared up, then tried watered down juices, one at a time until I got a reaction, then stopped giving them that juice until they were older and their skin was tougher.

I found the best thing is to use baby shampoo and water for each diaper change and go diaper less for at least an hour after. This method can get messy, but trust me it is worth it. With my kids the rash always disappeared within a day or two, no matter how bad the rash was.

There is this stuff that you can get at Walmart called Butt Paste, not kidding that's the name, go to the pharmacy and ask one of those people what isle you can find it on...I swear by it and my kids had killer diaper rash...

It may be the wipes. My daughter got a red bum from her wipes, now we use organic Parents Choice wipes from Walmart. They aren't expensive and have more of a cloth like texture. As soon as we switched wipes her bum cleared up. Many wipes have so many perfumes or chemical or synthetic fibers in them. It could also be the diapers, try the cheap Parents Choice Diapers from Walmart. They work just as well or better than the expensive brands, or you could try cloth diapers. Your baby might be allergic to something in the wipes, diapers or cremes you use. Good Luck!

when my daughter had bad nappy rash i changed her diapers and changed the wipes to a more sensitive type. Some time the change in the nappies really help. I also apply sudacream at every nappy change. The nappy-free kick abouts help alot too. Or you could also try kamilosans i think its called. Its a nipple cream but you can also use it on little bums.

My oldest son had the same problem. No matter what I did his little bum stayed red. Finally my mother told me to stop using the baby wipes which were unscented and to use white wash cloths instead. I continued to use desatine and to use the white wash cloths and he finally started to clear up in two days.

Ugh, I hear you. The first think you could do to help is take your little one to the doctor and get a professional opinion if it is YEAST or diaper rash. I had a battle with what I thought were a few spots of diaper rash that wouldn't go away, I tried literally everything. When i had just had it with every product be it commercial or natural and let him go bare bum and chased him around with pare towel, Lysol wipes and a facecloth for him, and that didn't help after 3 days, in we went to the doc. It was yeast and it LEFT after 2 days of clotrimizole. He also wasn't my first child and needed expert advice. See if you're not battling yeast or indeed diaper rash, to be safe.

Also in addition to trying a new cream (possibly a RX) you give them pro-biotics. They replace the good bacteria in their digestive system and level everything out. It really helped my sons rash, after every cream including the perscription ones, I added probiotics every day and within a few days it was all cleared up. Also if you don't want to go the the Dr. they gave me a great recipe for mixing your own cream. Mix desitin, mylanta, and monistat (7 day) together. It creates a great barrier that has an antiacid for acidic poo, and a yeast med for yeast rashes. But seriously try the probiotics. That worked above everything else for us.
