How do I get my toddler to quit throwing food and sippy?

My sweet little baby is morphing into an equally sweet but more destructive toddler. I know that messes come with the territory, but he KNOWS he's not supposed to throw food and sippy (I can often prevent him from doing both by a warning tone of voice and a raised eyebrow)... then, he gets a mischievious glint in his eyes and throws it! Any tips?

Yeah take it away. Go back to feeding him yourself. When my son would throw things for a good rousing game of "fetch" I would put them out of his reach and give him stuffed animals instead. Throwing things isn't acceptable at all, and once everything was thrown I ignored him. He got upset and frustrated. When he calmed down I gave him back his bottle/sippy until he threw it again. Then I kept it out of his reach again, usually for 3 minutes.
