How do I get rid of my baby's cradle cap?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My son's cradle cap goes away and then comes right back. I've tried, baby oil before baths, using a brush to get it off, and dandruff shampoo. It always comes back.

I've had this problem too. So I've found that Aveeno Moisterizing shampoo works best with a soft tip brush to scrub the head with (softly). After the bath, I apply an organic lotion. I also apply the lotion daily and sometimes a few times a day depending on how dry her little head gets. I tried baby oil, but it didn't seem to help. I like the organic lotion b/c it doesn't leave the hair greasy.

my son always got it really bad from someone puttin babyoil on him...i spoke with his dr. about it and he said the same about it blocking the pores. when i asked my grandmother about how to help get rid of it she told me that when i bathe him just to use his regular johnson baby shampoo and soap his head real good and then take his soft brush and in circular motions not too hard brush until you see his head becoming pink. within a week it was gone!!! at first i thought my grandmother was crazy for suggesting it but then i finally tried after thinking well she has had 3 kids of her own and 11 grandkids so she must know what she was talkin about. never be afraid to turn to the elder females in your family for advice. i know its easier to trust them for advice about your baby than most here on the net. good luck with the little one!!!

Both my kids had it. I spent so much time managing it with the first... but with the second (and so little time to spend dealing with it) another mom gave me some great advice. Lather the baby's head with olive oil and let it sit for 20 minutes or so until the scales are really soft... I left it for an hour just to make sure. Then use a fine-toothed comb close to the scalp to gently lift off the scales. Once you comb it all out, just wash all the oil off with shampoo and voila! He will have the cutest little head ever! Good luck.

My pediatrician said to leave it alone. You are never supposed to put baby oil on their heads cause it can block the pores. If you brush it too much it will irritate it.It will eventually clear up on its own.You might ask your Dr. if there is anything on the market that is safe now.

I saw someone already posted about oil, but my son had a really dry scalp when he was about 3 months old. I would lather it with baby oil and let it sit for around ten min, then i would brush it out with one of the soft baby brushes you get from the hospital. I found doing that twice a day for about a week it was completely gone. I hope this helps!

Try Denorex shampoo. It worked for both of our kids. Our boy's cradle cap was so bad all of his hair rubbed off! Just remember two things: first, the longer you leave it on, the better it works; and second, it's not tear-free, so be careful to keep the suds away from baby's eyes while it sits and while you rinse. After the baths, try a soft brush against his hair's natural growth direction (think against the grain) to break up the clumps more, then comb out what you can.

My pediatrician gave me a prescription cream to apply to the affected areas. If it is persistent or severe, you might want to check with lil one's doctor

Cradle Cap doesn't just go away. Its like dandruff for babies, and the less the hair the worse it seems. Both my babies had/have it just keep doing what you're doing and they will probably grow out of it

use a soft brush when you give him a bath and brush in circles after you shampoo. they also have a special shampoo for it i do believe.

After every bath just use a fine toothed baby comb at an angle to get under any cradle cap that he may have. No need to use oil or anything. Just comb scalp after every bath, the warm water will be enough to soften the skin, and the comb will pick anything up off the scalp.

My son and daughter would get that . I would apply baby oil and use a soft brush and brush it all directions ,of coarse not till its raw lol but gently work it out . and just use baby oil even after its gone after bath time
