I've had morning sickness before, but never like this. Some days are OK while others I spend the majority of the day with a low grade fever, unable to eat anything and running to the bathroom to basically throw up nothing. I'm hoping to find some new tricks to stave off my sickness enough so I can do quality activities with my three and one yr. old girls. I feel like because of this pregnancy they don't get the best of me, and it bothers me. Thanks to everyone for listening.

Thanks everybody for the great advice. I'm still fighting it but at least it is more manageable now. I've used a lot of your suggestions and many of them work, so truly thank you all!! If anyone wants an update I had my 10wk. And apparently measure big, as well as the uterus is higher than normal. So next week I get an early u/s to make sure of the due date (I'm positive of when my last cycle was) and the possibility of twins.

I know exactly how u feel! I have a 3 yr old and two year old whom are not getting the best of me right now. My doctor prescribed me zofran. I am on the 8 mg three xs a day. Everybody is different so it may or may not work for u. For me it only takes the edge off the m/s. I do feel at least 50% better than I did before taking it. At least that 50% allows me to actually do things now that I couldn't do before like cook, clean, and spend time w the little ones. I hope things get better for u soon as I am nearly into my second trimester and hope that it will ease up soon for me as well. Good luck to u and congratulations!

It's best to go to the Dr. I've heard many times over and over about fevers and pregnancy. Don't want to scare you...here's an article to read, but call your obgyn asap and let him/her know your concerns. Make sure that baby is ok. All the best to you!! http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/201...

I recommend the wrist bands - they did not make mine go away, but alleviated it. Also - sour hard candies, and squeezing fresh lemon into ice water. Stay hydrated! I got dehydrated cause even water was making my stomach upset when it was empty! Also - there are prenatal vitamins that contain a SLOW RELEASE of vitamin B that helps fit nausea. Docs tell you to take Vitamin B but it leaves your system within 1 1/2 hours, and my "morning sickness" lasted all day! Good luck.

There is a condition called hyperemesis in pregnancy. The doctor can help you with this. Basically it makes you vomit up nearly everything and become weak as well as dehydrated. If something doesn't feel right, keep calling and get seen!

Feel your pain! I was worse with the 2nd too. I did not have the strength for a 3rd.. I used to pull over on the way to work and throw up (nothing as well) just because of the smell of exhaust on the road. It was brutal. But for some reason, ORANGES really helped me in the early going during both pregnancies- it was about all I could eat and it gave me a bit of reprieve. I have heard a lot of women say this. I also tried those motion sickness wrist bands (got them at the drug store) and they helped a little, as well as a B complex vitamin. It all helped a bit, but just a bit was better than nothing! I was not willing to go on that medication for morning sickness, though I was very tempted.I was working Full-time and used to literally crawl under my desk and nap when I could. With kids, that's tough- get a babysitter and nap when you can, then you'll have more energy for your kids!

Good luck - it's short-lived, thankfully...

If you get to where you can't keep anything down then take 7up and put 3/4 soda 1/4 water and a pinch of sea salt in a glass and sip it for a while. The 7 up settles the tummy and the salt helps you retain the water to keep you from dehydrating. I was sick the whole nine months with my first and I lived on peach ice cream as I craved peaches and prunes to keep me regular. It passes for most people and you have to wait it out. The wrist bands don't help much I have them also for motion sickness in the ca. I had my daughter take Sea aloe instead of prenatials and she did so much better. Her ambionic fluid was cyrstal clear and gave me a healthy baby boy 8 lbs 7 oz. a month ag

I had morning sickness so bad that I had to be on meds from the dr to stop throwing up. I started at 11weeks and lasted till 35 weeks (all day long). I tried many kinds until we found the right one that would get me to stop throwing up but was still nausa. I had it with both kids. One reason I only had 2 kids. I feel for anyone going through it but afterwards the kids were worth it. Good luck

Hey dacia, I had morning sickness really bad with my little girl. I have heard alot of bad things about the medications that are prescribed for morning sickness so I didn't touch any of them.

the thing that worked for me was ginger, I tried it in food and as a tea and it was the only way to keep anything down for a while. I pretty much survived on stirfry for a while there. That and a lot of toast.

I had to have a 'control' meds when my morning sickeness was bad, and that did help. Also I remember each pregnancy was different for me, as to how I felt and how I managed those times. What you need to try to do if you can, is find out what you can eat before you go to bed if you can, and try that and some in the morning by your bed covered up of course, and see if that will help. I remember having nuts, chocolate and raisens for my first pregnancy and that helped. But I had to have the control meds first, and I found that I only need a little bit to manage then. Another baby I had gave me morning sickness if I didn't eat when she wanted me to or if I didn't eat what she wanted me to eat, or as often as she wanted me to eat. That was hard, to deal with. But she was very particular about the food, but when I learned that she loved dairy and fruit then things seemed to go much better. My last pregnancy was a son, and he loved water, and I had a lot of that and that helped and little to no morning sickness with him. Tell your dr. about your status and see if they can give you any better clues. Each baby is different, and since you already have two this one is certainly their own personality. Hope that is of some help to you. Pray if you believe in GOD, and if you don't it's time to seek His help in this matter as well. He will be with you .

The reason people try to eat first thing is to raise the blood sugar levels. "Morning sickness" happens when the blood sugar levels are too low. So eating something small before moving in the morning is a great idea. I think that soda (I like ginger ale), although empty calories, in a small amount can raise the blood sugar enough to help settle the stomach to except other food. Also peppermint tea is good on the stomach. Ginger is also known to help with motion sickness and settle the stomach.

Steep a couple pieces of fresh ginger root and sip the tea. I also tried b vitamin supplement that the doc gave me....wrist bands...crackers before getting out of bed. Unfortunately nothing worked for me. Periodically a thick vanilla milk shake would stay down. Finally the doctor suggested an antacid which finally worked. I hope things get better for you....I know its miserable....but just remember the gift you get at the end...it is what got me

through both times.

I left crackers by my bed and took a bite before I sat up every morning and it helped

Also with my second baby I was so sick I lost 15 lbs and my doctor put me on some medicine a combination of a sleeping pill(cut in half) and vitamin c to help. Also a friend of mine has had a lot of trouble with morning sickness even though she is now farther along so she actually went to a acupuncture place and they taped her feet in a way to stimulate the pressure points in your feet and she hasn't been sick since!

The one doctor told me I have morning sickness because of protein deficiency. The worst of it disappeared as soon as I started eating more protein. I would eat through my nausea to a place where it was bearable. Egg whites is a good source, humus, avocado, yogurt (Bulgarian), hemp powder, spirulina, etc. The only thing was as I ate one protein I could only eat that specific one again within a few days. The worst nausea got taken away although never became a large eater even after. Would always have to stop eating food half way.

Great though this protein thing. Placenta gets made which is mainly protein so it makes sense. Spoke to many moms after whom also told me how they had to eat past their nausea.

Good luck.

I never had morning sickness just all day nausea and motion sickness - yet I'm sure principles about the same & you never know something might help.

I found sour lollies were great the sourer the better, it just helped take the edge off.

A 80yr+ client always said dry toast or biscuit before your feet touch the ground - she swore by it lol

Peppermint or Ginger, Peppermint is the easiest to find. I had a peppermint disk in my mouth for MONTHS! Morning sickness? More like Morning afternoon and all night long sickness! I actually lost weight until I discovered the peppermint thing. Give it a shot. And best wishes dear. I heard that the good news is that the more sickness you have the easier it is to give birth. My sister? No morning sickness 28 hours labor. My sick for about 5 months, Labor 45 MINUTES and it did not hurt much. and by the time my daughter GOT here, the drugs had LONG worn off.

For me nothing really worked but I know several moms who kept eating all day helps, a little grape here, a little cracker there, a little meatball after, stuff like that, and it really helped them.

I, however, am concerned with what you are saying, that you have a fever and you can't keep anything down. This just does not seem like normal pregnancy sickness.

oh, memories! I have six sons and had morning sickness for all of them, some much worse than others. Some of the usual advice helped, other advice made it worse, for me. I actually found i had to eat spicy food(Until the heartburn trimester at least) and developed quite an addiction to chilli and ginger(Intrestingly the two foods which women in many countries eat to quell morning(All Day!) sickness).

Don't fret over the other kids. i did, sometimes i was so sick that my youngest sat in front of the tv and lived on vegemite sandwiches! Not ideal parenting but he survived, thrived in fact once the sickness was over.

Good luck with your pregnancy, try the ginger, drink enough water(Dehydration makes it worse) and get whatever rest you can(i know it's not much) Take care

Juice Plus+ is a research based (pregnancy and children are some of the big research) and is awesome for mother and baby's nutritional support. All natural fruits, vegetables, berries and grains in capsule or gummie form. AND if an adult is taking Juice Plus+ a child from age 5 - college age can take it for free, just have to fill out a questionaire from time to time about current health while on JP. Read the research and/or check it out -- www.margo4juiceplus.com

I also wanted to tell you mothers that I bought my daughter sea aloe instead of prenatial vitamins and the doc told her that the ambionic fluid around the baby was cyrstal clear and really healthy. It is a liquid source of vitamins that comes directly from food not manufactured like the prenatial vitamins and just a capful aday is all you need plus a healthy diet. I learned this from my homeopathic doctor.

The good news, of course, is that for most of us, the real yucky time ends about week 12-13, when the placenta attaches and begins supporting your baby instead of only your hormones, whew. Until then, the big things I learned were the oldest remedy, plain crackers BEFORE YOU EVEN LIFT YOUR HEAD in the morning. Keep crackers right beside your bed and plan to eat a few and LIE there before you get up. Then, do try to eat, even if you feel like you can't, but small snacky-type meals, which will help all through your pg as well. And, yes, vits in the afternoon or evening - - with food.

With both of my children, I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (sp?). That's basically morning sickness all day long, all pregnancy long. I tried all of the tips listed here, but nothing worked. I ended up having to take Zofran just to get out of the bathroom. My issues were more medical in nature.

While pregnant with my daughter two years ago, I found that some of the reason I was getting SO sick was actually simple: during pregnancy, you tend to overproduce saliva. During the night, you're swallowing more saliva, more than likely acidic, on an empty stomach. I would snack throughout the night on starches or simple carbs. That actually seemed to not only help with heartburn, but helped ease much of my nausea. Now, if you have seasonal allergies and are suffering morning sickness during that time of year, your symptoms will be exasperated because of the overproduction of mucus. Try asking your doc about Benedryl at bedtime or something you can take that will not harm the pregnancy. Good luck!
