How do I stop my 11month old daughter putting her fingers in her mouth all the time??? My poor little girl started teething at an early age but she's 11 months now and still no teeth! I feel for my little girl when she smiles you can see her teeth popping threw her gums her gums are white and you can see her teeth.

But back to the point my daughter is putting her fingers and hands in her mouth all the time she's been doing this for months now. I know her teeth must be killing her but she put her hands and fingers so far down her mouth that she makes herself vomit ALL THE TIME. I give her nurofen and bonjela and teething rings to try to get her to stop but it doesn't help.

Dose anyone have any ideas on how to help keep her from putting her hands and fingers in her mouth??? Or anything else that will help with teething??

Or even if theres anything I can do to make her teeth come besides giving her things to chew on or hard sharp foods to eat cause I've been doing that and still nothing

Playtex makes a teething pacifier that my son used to help with his molars. I toss it in the fridge or freezer and he loved it. He thought it was great to have the control to switch between that and clean cold wet wash cloths.

My daughter did this too, the more you make them aware of things the more they'll want to do them. I just kept her little hands clean & she stopped on her own. My grandmother used to say if it ain't gonna kill them don't be too worried about it, this is with in reason of course.

It's perfectly normal for a child to put their hands into their mouths like that. My son kept doing it to the point that he would vomit! If you ignore it, she will stop eventually.

We used frozen gogurt popsicles in the tube. It's cold, it's chewy, and healthy :) Also those Freeze Pop popsicles work, even if you don't open them, they are like a teether. Have you already tried the traditional teether gum things? My kids didn't use them much.

I would try the baby orajel. That would help with her teething pains, however, at first they drool quite a bit but it goes away. My pediatrician ( you should always consult your own pediatrician in all matters) advised using something that didn't taste very good. They sell fingernail polish that is really bitter and you just put it on like polish and voila they won't want the nasty taste in their mouth so no more finger chewing. Vinegar was also suggested. I would say to not worry about it because it really is normal, but if she is making herself vomit than that is another matter. When she does it try to not make such a fuss about it. just quickly clean her up and let her get back to her playing. This way she isn't getting any attention for doing and she should stop. Try not to look her in the eyes when you are cleaning her up, as this will raise her heart rate and think you want to play with her or feed her. Hope this helps.

whenever she puts her hand in her mouth take it out and give her something that she can chew. Be consistent in doing that and she will stop - it might take a while since she's been doing it so long but it will work. give her camilia (hylands teething tabs or the liquid solution by Boiron) to help with teething pain. It's a natural/homeopathic remedy so there are no weird or scary side effects.

my lil girl is 6 months but she don't have teeth yet, but i know shes teething. But my sisters lil guy, when he was teething my mom would wash her hands and take her fingers and rub his gums, he loved it and within a week his teeth had broken through. maybe try that ! good luck :)

It may sound weird, but we gave my daughter jerkey to eat and that really helped with her teeth breaking through! She just turned 1 and she now has 6 teeth! We simply went to the store and got these lil pieces of jerkey that are round like a silver dollar. She would slobber and suck the juices out of it till it was almost white! Just don't get spicy or flavored ones! Stick to original flavored one! Hope she gets some teeth soon!!

ice poles are always a good one, you can get natural fruit ones, so not only will you be soothing your little ones gums but also giving them a health treat

just ignore it, it will go away shortly, but if you draw attention to it she will keep doing it

You can try putting a icky tasting liquid on it, dont know what its called, but its made for nail biting and thumb sucking, my parents used it with me when I was little and wouldnt stop sucking my thumb, but it didnt work because my urge to suck my thumb was stronger than the icky taste. If shes only doing it because her gums hurt, I would just let it go, if she needs to bite on them to releive her pain, and her fingers have that icky stuff on them, itll just frustrate her and make her crabby, and Im assuming her urge to bite will be srtonger than the icky taste as well. Not to mention the chemicals in the icky stuff might not be something you want her to be putting in her mouth, especially so young, it could really upset her tummy. If you still want to try it, ask your docotor about it first. It wont hurt to give her some tylonol or motrin either, I myself am not a fan of giving my daughter medicine all the time, but when theyre in alot of pain, its best to help them out a little bit. A few days in a row isnt going to hurt them. I have heard teething tablets are great too, and they are all antural. Have you tried giving her a washcloth or soft lovie to chew on? She might perfer it over teething rings or her fingers. If her gums are white and you can see her teeth starting to come in, than she should get them very soon, and shell probobly stop putting her fingers in her mouth, so its probobly not something you should worry about stopping right now, my daughter does it too. I dont think theres much you can do to help them come in faster other than the hard foods and teething rings. Do you rub her gums with a wet washcloth every day? Your supposed to do it to clean their mouth, and it might help a little.

I'm the Mother of three girls,, their grown now thank the Lord,,but when they were teething there was'nt any medications out there to help them with their gums so i would keep clean washrags wet and in the freezer and to me that helped them i just kept switching the rags so they would always have a frozen one at all times. I dont know if this will help you,,but we did the same with a couple of or grandchildren. Just make sure the washrags are white and new.

Pleas ebe very careful about giving her hard, sharp foods. She could still break these with her gums and end up choking on them. Have you put the teethers in the ice box? the cold is very soothing....even a cold wash cloth may help. I know it's exaspirating for you but she's really very lucky. Her teeth with be all the more healthy when they do come in and less prone to cavities. Make sure when they do come in that you start brushing them with a soft baby toothbrush right away. PS. If you put something on her fingers that tastes lucky she will learn to not put them in her mouth, but have something else to replace them with...:)

a baby's mouth is basically like a third hand to them..they are learning alot by putting things in their mouth. I never stopped my children from doing this unless it was something dangerous or really dirty.

Have you tried giving her a damp cold facecloth? Just rinse a clean one and pop it in the fridge..she may enjoy sucking/chewing on it

Occupy her little fingers with something else, like a small toy musical instrument, little keyboard, and praise praise praise. Pay less attention to the fingers in the mouth, than her musical accomplishments!

Try teething gel for her gums and freeze some damp cloths and let her chew on those. My daughter didn't like the teething rings either.
