I'd do it. Lets just remember that pregnant women have a higher mortality rate with the H1N1 virus. Also, if H1N1 had come out sooner in the year (before April of 2009) it would have automatically been included in the regular seasonal flu shot. So, I think the real question is "How do you feel about the regular flu shot?"

Pregnant women have suppressed immune systems and stand a higher chance of contracting it and getting a bad case. If I can do anything to protect my unborn child, I am. I am a nurse and encourage everyone to get it. We are already seeing cases of it, some bad, especially since I work in intensive care. I am required to get it at work, but would get it regardless. As far as my 15 month old...I'm torn. I hate to see her sick, and will probably get her vaccinated, especially since I'm pregnant and she's one of those "very young" ones!

I would not do it if I was pregnant. And I am definetly NOT giving it to my 16 month old son. I am scared of it.

Im 6 months pregnant and I got the seasonal flu shot last week. I am planning on getting the swine flu shot soon at work. My son got the seasonal flu shot. I felt that he do not need the swine flu shot. Better safe than be sorry.

I'm a little torn about it. I do know a couple people who have had it and it was just like a bad flu and over in 3 - 4 days. Those who have died from it were really really young or very ill and didn't have enough stregth to fight it. I think everyone should be more concerned about catching MRSA from locker rooms. My friend - a 22 yr old - young heealthy and active almost died from that infection and she unknowingly caught it from a locker room at a gym.

I agree Dawn. I am 7 months pregnant and I got the seasonal flu vaccine and I plan to get the H1N1 vaccine as well.

I think that it is an extremely important thing to consider. I have several very good friends who are nurses and they are urging all their pregnant friends to get the vaccination. My son (age 6) has already had H1N1 a couple of weeks ago and it was very mild. HOWEVER, the non-mild cases pop up...especially in pregnant women and kids, which is unique. I think it is also important to remember that the seasonal flu vaccine changes every single year to accommodate the strain that is projected for that year. This is no different. They used the same tech and adapted it for H1N1. I think all the fear about using the vaccine is WAY hyped up. I will talk to my doctor first, but as a newly pregnant person, I do intend to get the vaccination when it becomes available.

It scares me. It's too new and they really don't know how its going to react. I'm not giving it to my toddler either. She's not in daycare-so no point!

I'm scared of it. There is not a lot of info on this shot & no long term studies. I don't want to do anything to hurt my little guy. I talked to my OB today & he said that he's not even getting it for himself or his family. He did say however, if a pregnant woman has asthma or a comprimised immune system that she should get the shot since the flu would be more severe in that case.

I don't feel good about it for non pregnant moms so I say no.
A lot of people die from the regular flu what is the diferrence. Do all you can to avoid contact, clean your hands and support your immune system.
