It depends on how old are your children. You could take them to the beach or playground. Have friends over or send them to their friends whom you trust.

books on CD are awsome for them, they are intertained together and they can do that while they draw pictures and make crafts about he books. My one daughters draws amazing sketches while she listens to the books, it really opens up the imagination. Jim Dale is a wonderful narrarator. I also try to give them one chore each day to help them with responsibility. depending on how old they are, you can also get them involved in community activities, all sorts of places are looking for young teens to help out and SPCS, and even in the libraries.
