I'm a labor & delivery nurse. It all depends on why ur being induced, is ur cervix favorable, how many wks u r, etc. There r so many factors that could matter. If ur body was ready it might b very quick but if not I've had women being induced for 3 days. Good luck.

I was induced at 8am on a Thursday, and nothing really happened until my water broke at 7pm that night. And even then, I didn't start dilating until I had an epidural and was able to relax a bit from the Pitocin Contractions From Hell (tm). My son was born at 1:15am.

It took me 32 hours and 2 epidurals. And I had only dialated to 4 cm. Finally the Dr on call came to her senses and gave me a c-section. Thank god!!! I was begging for one. The epidurals never even numbed me all the way. If I had to do it again, I would be put out completely because I could feel them start to cut me when they started the c-section. But I was happy To have it over and have a healthy little boy after all that. Hope yours goes better!

The one I was induced with was my quickest by far but he ended up with jaundice because of the quick delivery. I also didn't have time for any pain relief.
I guess it depends on how ready your body is. I was fully effaced when I was induced and 7 days overdue.

My oldest (not induced) total labor was 48 hours, my second (not induced) was about 18 hours labor. My third was induced, from the time the IV was put in until she was born was 6 hours, labor itself only about 4 hours. But for me it was 2 stressful being induced, if I could go back in time, I wouldn't do again!!

I was only induced with #2 and from start to finish was 1.5 hours. From the first contraction to when he was born was 50 mins!!!!
Even the midwives were surprised at how quickly I went, they weren't ready for him. They had told me to go for a walk when they started the induction then told me after that it was just as well I didn't, otherwise I would have had him in the gardens :-)

With my 1st daughter I was induced twice. I hadn't gone into full labour after 4 days the first time so they sent me home. I went to almost 43 weeks then they induced again - took about 50 hours - 35 to go into full labour and 15 until delivery.
With my 2nd girl they were going to induce me because I was almost 42 weeks but my water broke spontaneously - that one was 6 hours from the time my water broke until I had her :)
