I was 160 (I'm 5'7ish) before I got pregnant. I gained 80lbs altogether. It was alot, I know.... but I took it all off within 10 months and now I'm back to what I was......... what about you guys? I was happy with my pregnancy & afterwards. I nurse my daughter, barely worked out, and all of the weight came off. My doctor got so angry at me for nothing! What about you guys???

I honestly think it's all about genetics!  I did not breastfeed, but at 3 months along with my 4th child, I'm 5ft. 8, 130 lbs, same as in 10th grade.  Meanwhile, my sister who only has 2 kids (both teens) is about 40 lbs. overweight.  The difference between us?  I take after our mom, she takes after our dad.  I think if you aren't lucky enough to have those kind of genes, you have to really work at it, and for some people, it's always going to be a struggle.  I may have attained my pre-pregnancy weight, but I don't deserve it!  It's all thanks to mom.

My first pregnancy, I got pre-eclampsia, started about 175, and gained 60 lbs (238). When I started paying attention to my weight again, I was at a stagnant 200. My daughter was 6 mo when I lost my milk supply. I went on a diet shortly thereafter (now that I wasn't breastfeeding), and got back down to 173. Got pregnant again after her 1st birthday, and just had my 2nd three months ago. I got up to 226 this time, and yet again at the stagnant 200. I'm only active chasing around my 2 year old, though I want to hit up the gym across the street. I haven't tried eating healthy; I just eat. If I have to stop breastfeeding again, that's when I'll diet & be more dedicated to weight loss. (I just have this thing against trying to diet while breastfeeding since you're supposed to get 500 extra calories/day).

I did pretty much the same thing. I weighed 140 when I got pregnant and then gained 60 lbs during my pregnancy, lost half of it, then a year later it all came back. I hadn't changed my eating or anything, so the Dr. did some test on me and I found out I have PCOS, it's a very common issue with women. Now it's so hard for me to lose weight, I stay at this same size and exercise, dieting, nothing works. It's HORRIBLE!!! I hate it!

Im 5 '4 and i put on 55 pounds while i was pregnant. Its been slow trying to lose it because i had a c-section and wasnt able to nurse. My baby was 9lb 5oz! I still have about 20 more pounds to go. Ive been trying weight loss pills but theyre not working so well

It took me a year for all mine to fall off. I had to take it super slow since I had a c-section. I'm still not 100% up to snuff as far as fitness but that's for other reasons.

It took me about 9 months to go from 173 back down to 110.I wet back to work when Chris was 6 weeks old. that helped too. But what your mother dosen't tell you, all that skin that stretches out of shape around your middle, it you are not careful it comes back in your 50's. then it is harder to take it off.

I only gained 10 lbs this last pregnancy and I lost it within 10 days. My daughter was 9 lbs 8oz at birth. I have a tummy still to lose but most of that was before I got pregnant.

With my son, i didn't gain a pound, so it wasn't hard there, but with my daughter, I gained 40 pounds and I have been nursing her for over a year so that has helped, and going for morning walks, yoga, pilates and swing dancing have all contributed to me not only loosing the weight, but also toning what I have. I still eat what I like, but my most important thing was not only putting off the weight but also making sure it was in shape.

Good luck!

I gained 45 pounds with my twins and lost it all within 4-5 months.  I'm actually close to 10 pounds lighter now than I was when I got pregnant(it's been 11 months since the twins)and I'm 135, 5'7".  I'm still nursing and that's all I did to take the weight off.  I eat what I want and haven't exercised.  It was really easy for me.

I have yet to lose the weight. I was the same as you and same height and gained 55lbs. I can't seem to lose it but I am trying! I watch what I eat mostly, and when I do that, I FEEL skinny which is nice for me. But now I'm just trying to get more active now that my daughter is 2. If you find something that works, let me know too!!!!

Sorry but I actully started at 180 and hit 200 and left the hospital at 165. I heard breastfeeding makes you loose weight faster.

Good for you! Don't let your doctor worry you...I think they get overly concerned about weight anyway. Nursing is huge when it comes to a healthy weight loss, so as long as you were happy, healthy and obviously eating enough to produce  milk for you daughter, I think all is good! I gained 50 lbs (I am 5' 8' weighed 140) ( this was my first pregnancy) I dropped 30 lbs in the first 2 weeks, but I credit that to breastfeeding, and a small appeitie after giving birth. The last 20 lbs (My son is now 6 months old and I was back to my pre-weight about a month ago) took little exercise (walking and light weight training) and continued breast feeding. I know weigh 135 and am even healthier and more in shape then before I got pregnant....but everyone is so different...different appetites, metabolisms, etc. Like I said, as long as you and your daughter are happy and healthy don't worry about your Dr!

very jealous. I had jus lost 90 lbs when I had my son and had so much stress since then I can't get rid of it and my son is 7. I guess it doesn't help to have a teenager.

I was 130 before I got pregnant and I actually weigh less post pregnancy. I nursed and it was gone w/i in six weeks. I ate well during my pregnancy and I still do. I just want to work out so I can tone up what was stretched out a little suring my pregnancy.

Lost my baby weight after 4-5 weeks but my body shape was weird (rounded body skinny legs/arms) Breast feeding really helped lose the weight- my boy in now 15 months and my body is finally going back to the right shape. I think time, yoga and walking is worthwhile.

I'm only a little over 5 ft tall and gained about 40lbs with my first child. I didn't do any exercise forever even though I was a bit of a health nut before baby. I don't think I had the energy or time to think about losing weight at all because my daughter was a terrible sleeper. I was up so much those first few months and nursing constantly. I ended up nursing her til she was almost 2yrs old. The photos from around 6 mos on looked like I had lost a lot of weight by then but it could have been sooner (I wasn't so conscious of it). But I put it down to breastfeeding and hardly any sleep that did it. Not the best kind. My muscle tone was terrible though and I never got back on the horse with getting my abs back. Losing weight is one thing but getting back in shape is a whole other matter.

I am only 5'3 and I gained 45 pounds. I lost 25 pounds right away but the rest just slowly came off within four months. I am actually only weighing 108 right now which is less than my pre-pregnancy weight and I never exercise. I think breastfeeding and eating right really helps.

I gained about 40 woth each kid and lost most (about 35)  within 2 months. The last 5 pounds were the hardest! But by 6 months it was all gone.

I gained 35 lbs  in my pregnancy and lost it in about 7 weeks. I had a c-section so I didn't start any exercise until about 8 weeks. It was just nursing I guess! I'm currently eating like a horse and am 5lbs lighter than pre-pregnancy (at 5 months) although the stomach is a bit loose, everything else is the same. I think it's genetics. My mom was the same way with all 3 of her kids.

Janell Corral: Ouch! There's a few simple and easy things that can diminish scars and stretch marks pretty cheap; carrier oil like jojoba as it's good for your skin anyway and essence of lemon essential oil. The idea is that the lemon essential oil can burn so if you use a few drops in a base lotion and use a bit on just the are you need it, PLEASE look it up in more detail before trying cos there are a lot of instructions (if your interested now) that I don't have right next to me here, if you would like me to find out for you send me a message :)

I had already put on almost 1 1/2 stone (21lbs? ) before I got pregnant due to a change in my eating habits which put me up to about 9 1/2 stone then just before giving birth I weighed 13 stone! ...Right after the birth it was about 11 1/2 and by about 4-5 months I was around about 9 (go breastfeeding!). I finally got back down to my 'normal' weight of 8 1/2 stone (124lbs) by 8 1/2 months after she was born due to the everyday trek to creche before college! (Had to go all the way up a pretty steep hill with a buggy and day bag for baby plus my college rucksack!)! whew)

I gained 70 lbs with my son and it took about 6 mos. to lose all the weight plus an additional 10 lbs. I can honestly say that I did nothing to take it off. I didn't nurse or diet or workout.....it just came off gradually. With my daughter I gained 45 lbs and it took about 3 mos. to come off. And again I didn't do anything. I guess I just have a high metabolism!!! :)

Luckily I only gained 20 pounds with my son.  After one week I was back in my normal jeans.  I didn'y have a whole lot to lose though because I lost 12 lbs just in the hospital (the baby, the water, nursing).  While nursing, I just ate normal instead of eating extra like they tell you to.  I was amazed.  I started my pregnancy at 140 and after a week I was at 130.  I was a lucky one.

I gained about 35lbs total and it took 3 months to fit in my clothes again. I was very careful with my diet and I worked out the entire time.  I really only ate foods that was beneficial to my son's health and no junk food.  Being pregnant was not a free-for-all.  Eating junk food doesn't benefit the mom or the baby.  I delivered a healthy 9lb 14 oz baby, naturally.  I can't speak for anyone else, but I plan on following the same guidelines for baby no. 2

I just had my fourth daughter,I gained about 45 lbs (i'm only 5'2).But I lost 30lbs the first month by eating peanut buter and crackers all day long (i ate other thing too). Afterwards I looked online and found out that peanuts have a natural fat blocker and speeds up your metelism (sp?)too. Now all my friends with and without children are trying it. lol.
