I would say at 4 months it is early to start feeding your child solids.

Another thing I read was that at a young age a baby doesn't really understand the concept of eating solid food. So they need to learn that and at a later age (more like six months), they usually are able to figure it out because they are older.

I know lots of people start their babies on cereal around 4 months but usually they don't try other foods till later.

A baby is getting its nutrition from the formula or breastmilk mainly at the age of four months.

This all just stuff I read and learned about or found out about from my doctor. So my best advice is to ask others (like you are now), read books, and ask your doctor.

Good luck!

ask your doctor for advice.

And how old is your son?

We did rice cereal for about seven days to make sure our daughter liked the new texture and solid food concept. Then we introduced a new veggie to her and she would eat that for about 3-4 days before we introduced another veggie. After she tried lots of veggies we started on the fruits.

I read all that in a book and talked to my doctor.

Good luck!

I was told with my son to start cereal at 4 months but not to start anything else till about 6 months old and then try one fruit or veggie at a time one week apart alternating one week start a fruit next week start a veggie. But it all depends on your child and nutritional needs.

I was told to do cereal for a week and then introduce veggies or fruits. But only do one veggie or fruit along with cereal each week in case the baby is allergic.

It really depends on the child. My doctors office says not until they are 6 months old even for cereal but some children need more nutrition before then.

Make sure when starting baby food to avoid honey, eggs, nuts, wheat and chocolate(I know that is hard one) for the first year.
