How many months old were your kids when you started feeding them fruits and veggies in a jar?

My 3 kids didn't eat much in the way of solids till they were about 12 months old. They had tastes of various mashes (I never bought the stuff in a jar!) but were'nt very interested. I just kept offering until they took to it, which was all roughly around 12 months. They're now healthy adults with no food problems.

Our son never ate jarred foods as I've always homemade his meals. Our son started with veggies first at about 6.5 months and fruits at about 7 months. Prior to 6.5 months he ate rice cereal (rice cereal started at 6 months) and breast milk. Now at 18 months he eats what we eat. I love to cook and actually our son has showed interest in helping me cook recently as well :)

He was 5 1/2 months old. We started cereal at 4 1/2 months and a month later started fruits or veggies. Knowing what I know now, I would probably wait until 6 months. They don't NEED anything other than formula or breast milk until 6 months, but it is ultimately your choice.

i started to feed my son vegs when he started eating rice cereal well i waited a few days to see if he was allergic to anything so at 3 months was when we did it i gave him vegs first cuz i thought fruits would be to much for him until i asked about fruits so probably at 4 or 5 months when he started fruits i was afraid of high acidity but im so glad that i started him on vegs first cuz he loves his veggis well he loves all foods but i dont have to fight with him to get him to eat veggies so i do suggest that but id say start them after you know they arent allergic to the cereal... most drs say 4 months so start solids mine said 3 months and my son eats all the time but is still skinny right on the correct weight maybe a little under but he isnt under weight he is like 22 23 lbs and he is 17 months and also has no food allergies what so ever so its not about the age to say obesity or food allergys thats a load of crap its just the kid and the geans so dont get worried about if your kids are chunky or skinny as long as they are eating...

Why use jars when it's cheaper and healthier to use fresh e.g mash a banana, puree carrots, sweet potato etc?

probably 2 or 3 months. Most drs say not to do that b/c of allergies... but I'm never one to really follow that advice. My kids never had any problems with introducing new foods. I'm not saying that I'd feed them the whole jar or anything... but introducing it was never a problem.
