How many ounces of formula should a 12 week old consume at each feeding? When do you increase amount?

I'm also highly against cereal in the bottle. I believe cereal should be fed with a spoon. If it is solving a spit-up problem that is one thing, but they don't need the extra calories.

my son woz having 8oz bottles from 8 weeks old 6 times a day!! even when he started on baby rice he continued with all of the bottles. he woz about 6 months old when he started cutting down. ur baby will tell u if she needs more ounces, if shes finishing all of every feed then put an extra ounce in the next lot of bottles. thats wot i kept doing 4 my son, he still loves his milk now at 2!!

It really depends on the baby as they are all different. Some may be drinking 5-6 and others may be drinking 8! As long as your baby is gaining weight, let her call the shots.

At 3 months my daughter would take 5-6oz. Shes never really increased any more then that and shes 10 months now. I would increase the amount I made in the bottle when she would have taken the whole bottle at her last feeding. As well at her bedtime bottle I would add some rice cereal to it so she could go through the night.

My thoughts are to feed 'til satisfied....just like you would if you are breastfeeding. Increase the amount when the previous amount doesn't fill them up consistently.

As much as they need basically. Baby will truly let you know.  At 12 weeks, my son was doing about 6 oz. per feeding but he also got 1 to 2 tbsp. oatmeal cereal in it. He was on a watery formula (Alimentum) and spit up a lot so the cereal helped to stop the spit up and thicken the formula.  You increase amount by 1 oz. when you see the time between feedings gets shorter.

My son is and was always a big kid. 10lbs at birth! I can remember at around the 12wk mark calling the Dr to ask about feedings. At that time he was eating around 6-7oz each feeding and he wasn't satisfied. The doc told me that 8oz is fine as long as I was feeding him every 4 hours. Shortly after I started feeding him cereal, so he went back down to 5-6oz after cereal, and would still eat 8oz in the morning and in the evening. Your daughter will stop eating when she is full, don't worry about that. If she wants a little more just give it to her. Each day is different though, my son would eat like a hog one day and seem uninterested the next. Good luck! Your daughter is so cute!!
