My daughter was born Sept. 23, 2011 and she weighed 6Ibs 2oz when we left the hospital she weighed 5Ibs 11oz. Now she is two months and weigh 12Ibs. Is this too big for a 2 Month old? She is very greedy and drinks 6 oz of formula every 2-3 hours. Am I doing something wrong here?

Every child is different and they weigh as much as they are supposed too. There is no correct answer here in the least. Sounds like she is perfect to me.

My son was born 7lbs 10 ounces, then down to 7.4 by a month he was 11lbs and by 5 he was 20lbs he drank 4 ounces every 2 hours when we left the hospital, he was a big baby, now he is almost 3 and weighs 33lbs and is over 3 feet tall, when he was a toddler he was the pickiest eater in the world, id be lucky if he ate anything. Your child will eat what they need to at that age, so let them !!

Thanks everyone I feel better now I thought she was too big and Im sure she will lose it once she can move around. @ Medic Mommy Lott I thought I was feeding her too much cause sometimes she is still hungry after and hour or two have went by. I also ready that babies should double their weight by the time they are 6 months and she's all ready there so I was worried.

Sounds just fine to me. I know my daughter gained almost 4 lbs in a two week time period (she was breastfed), the doctor reweighed her because he thought it was wrong....it wasn't lol. The general rule of thumb is that a baby should double their birth weight by 4 months of age, eventually it all regulates she won't keep gaining at this rate forever.

Every kid is different. She sounds perfectly fine to me.

All 3 of mine were breastfed. My twins were born at 5lb 4oz and 4lb 11oz. They lost 10 and 8 ounces respectively. At 2 months they were both 8 pounds something ounces.

My son was born at 7lb 2oz. He lost 8 ounces in his first 3 days of life, but gained 12 ounces in the second 3 days of life. At 2 months he was just barely under 13 pounds.

That sounds about right. My daughter was 6lbs 13 oz at birth left the hospital at 6-11 and was about 12 pounds at 2 months, same for my son but he started out bigger. Both of my kids ate 6oz every 2.5 hours and went a little longer at night. What would you be doing wrong?
