From about 1 month on my oldest slept from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., nursed and then went back to sleep until about noon. My aunt's daughter is the same age and was also breastfed and she didn't sleep through the night until she turned a year. It all varies. It's not really about breast or bottle, it's about the baby.

My first was formula fed and he didn't sleep through the night until he was 5 months old. My 6.5 month old that I have now still gets up twice a night and he's breastfed. I don't know if bottle feeding would make a difference, but I"m jealous of you and your 10 week old! I have done Babywise with both my kids. It worked with my first after a few months (I got a late start), but it's not working at all with this one. I'm pretty close to Mandi Marquez, but my little one stays in bed a total of 11 hours at night. The hardest thing is to tell yourself to 'go with it'. At this point, it's not about your agenda, it's all about survival!

It really depends on the baby. my little one sleeps really good and has since day one but I have friends whose babies sleep for 3 hours day and night.

Depends on the child.  My baby is almost 9 months old and has never slept through the night yet.  The most he has made it was 5 hours at a time.  He will go back to be but he won't stay in bed anylonger than about 9 hours.

To Jamie,

no she also had 3 naps a day. At 10 - 12, 2 - 4, and 6- 8.  At 6 months old she went down to 2 naps a day eliminating the last nap. :) She is starting to get rid of the morning nap but not completely, she still needs it sometimes. She is 18 months old.

My last child woke up twice a night to be fed and changed, but went right directly to bed. He put himself on a schedule where he was ready for bed by 7 pm and he was to be home and in his own bed. Every baby is different but as long as you are getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep at a time your doing well.

Quoting Rachel:

She will usually have her last bottle around 10:00/10:30pm being roughly 130mls. She will last till about 3:00/3:30am so she is getting around 4.5 hours sleep once i settle her. SHe will then go from about 4am till 8am for her next feed

My daughter was doing exactly the same as your daughter when she was 10 weeks old. And now she sleeps right through the night and has done since she was 12 weeks so it could get better! xx

That sounds normal to me. My friend's LO slept around the same amount at that gae and her baby was bottlefed.

When I nursed. my DD was up every 2-3 hours at that age.

But every baby is different. :)

Hi Rachel, to me if your baby is hungry they let you no. If you baby want to sleep all night and he or she has no problems with he or shes wieght let them sleep as long as they want. Or ask your health visitor she is the best person to advise you.

I was up every 3-4 hours, however, I was breast feeding. I think the longest stretch she would give me was a solid 5 hrs.

Katie---I'm impressed, 12 hours!!! Was she up all day long?

Hi Rachel, It depends on the child. My first was not a big sleeper and gave me broken 8 hours. With nursing of course. The second one slept through the night at 10 weeks. How much sleep are you getting?

it all depens on your schedule and if you are working on sleep training. When my daughter was 10 weeks old she was sleeping 12 hours a night from 8pm to 8am. She is now 18 months and still sleeps that much and sometimes more. I used the book On Becoming Babywise and it was wonderful. It is a very easy read and has a lot of great tips on sleep/nap schedules.
