No, he is not getting too much sleep. But if either of his short naps are taking place in the evening, you may want to try and play with him so that he goes to bed earlier for the night.

My 8 month daughter goes to be about 8:30 and sleeps until 6:30 (I have an older daughter to get ready for school so this is a great time for her to wake up). She takes one 3 hour nap in the morning and a short nap in the afternoon, I would like for it to be longer, but I have to go pick up my other daughter from school and that wakes her up. But on the weekends she will take 2 naps at least 2 hours each.

Hope this is reassuring that your son is doing just what he should be!

When my daughter was that age she slept from around 9pm to 7:30am, and also took a 2 hour nap during the day.  An article I read says most babies between 6-9mos sleep between 11 1/2 - 15 hours a day including naps.  It doesn't sound like anything to worry about, but if you are concerned you should definitely talk to the pediatrician about it. http://www.babycenter.com/0_baby-sleep-b...
