i went for my check up today just to be told i am overweight when i walk 8km a day takeing my daughter to school and back and i have only gained about 5 kg how much should i have put on so far bub is normal size too about 2 pound at the moment

I agree with Karen, everyone is different and so is each pregnancy. I gained 45 pounds with my first daughter and 25 with my second. I was considered "average" weight when I got prego the 1st time and when I was like 4 months along I went to the doc and had gained 14 pounds in one month, I almost crapped myself. I started crying because that seemed like a lot to gain 1 month but the doctor said as long as I was eating right and getting some physical activity it was fine and it was. At the end there were times I only gained like 1 or 2 pounds.

everyone gains differently - i say as long as you're eating healthy and exercising then don't worry about the numbers. some people gain lots in the first half then taper off for a bit, while others won't gain hardly anything until they are towards the middle/end of their pregnancy. by 28 weeks the average gain is 17 - 24lbs (that is based on a person who is in the "normal" bmi range prepregnancy) so you'll have to take that into consideration as well. i am overweight so my dr didn't want me to gain anymore then 10lbs the entire pregnancy.
