My baby just turned 10 months. He has turned into a very big mommas boy!! He will barely go to his dad. And if he does he will turn around and out his arms out and whine for me to hold him. He has even gotten to the point to where he wants me to hold him on the floor as he plays with toys. If i leave the room he whines and cries. I go to companys house and he cant decide if he wants to play on the floor or sit with me so its back and forth, whining at the same time. I dont know what to do!! It gets embarassing and frusterating. Especially around other moms. He will whine for no reason! I need some advise PLEASE!!

I agree with Sharon. He doesn't know that when you leave the room you will be coming back. He wants to make sure that you are there because his instincts tell him that you are the one that provides for him.

All too soon he won't want to be around you and won't want cuddles so treasure it now. I know it can be exhausting but you can't get this time back. I'm lucky enough that I realized it when I had my 3rd and I love our cuddlles every night before bed.

He's NOT a Momma's boy, he is a BABY. He will not be interested in his father until he is about 2 and starts to gain a sense of self. You should not feel embarrassed by his behaviour because it is totally normal for a 10 month old baby to act like that. Hold him, hug him, it gives him confidence and makes him feel safe. Enjoy him as he is now because before you know it he'll be walking, talking and going his own way.

He is a child, my son did the same thing. His dad just kept playing and interacting with him. Sometimes he had no choice but to deal with dad only as i worked. It takes time but eventually he started going to dad for cuddles and wanted to play with dad. Be patient and eventually he will want to play with others besides mum all the time!

Thanks everyone for your advice!! I feel so much better! You are right he is still a baby, and i was wondering if this was a phase or not. I am pregnant with my 2nd and i guess i was just afraid that that this could be a permanant thing. I guess my crazy hormones dont help much! :)

A lot of infants start to experience separation anxiety around this age. It's normal and he'll grow out of it. He's just starting to understand he is a separate person from you. Just don't force him to go to or sit with anyone he doesn't want to. This will only exasperate his fears.
