SIt them on a little potty until they go in it, then make a huge deal of them going. Have a timer and make him/her sit on it every 30 minutes, esp after eating and/or drinking anything.

Tamara is right. We also took our daughter to the store and let her pick out her own Big Girl panties and potty seat. She was so excited about her new stuff she started training that day. I would advise to stay consistant. Your child will get confused if you don't set a schedule for going potty and stick to it. That was the hardest part for me. I would take Mai-Lin potty every hour but if I was doing something and tried to put it off she would have an accident.

Have a potty chair set up in the bathroom, have her go in there and sit on it when you go, and remember to not get stressed and go at her pace, if you get pushy or stressed she will feel it and it will take much longer.
